Anxiety and stress among adults and childrenTend to worry over nothing? Have certain fears that prevent you from enjoying life to the fullest? Do you constantly feel chest tightness or stomach pains? Chances are you suffer from anxiety.

What about your kids? Do they have a hard time dealing with unexpected situations, live with fears that prevent them from flourishing, tend to have tantrums for no apparent reason, often tell you they have a stomachache or headache or even vomit even when they aren’t sick? They may very well be suffering from anxiety.

Anxiety can happen at any age. If you want to learn more about it, we invite you to attend this conference. It will help you understand the difference between stress and anxiety and the fundamentals on the topic, and help you find strategies for coping with stress and anxiety.

Buzz is back with a whole new show… and this time, it’s all about the circus! This captivating brass quintet hits the big top to help introduce its young audience to classical music, as only Buzz knows how!

Picture it—musicians enter the stage to play some lively music that is sure to get the audience on its feet. The scene is set with all of the usual circus gear: juggling balls, ma-gic wand, tightrope, clown costumes, strong man items, a lion’s cage… and even a cannon to be shot out of—but there isn’t a single circus performer in sight! They have all abandoned the circus, leaving the musicians to fend for themselves. Whispers are heard throughout the audience.

Without hesitation, this quintet of musicians decides to take over for the missing circus performers… and the re-sults are hilarious! Of course, the members of this band are all clowns at heart, which makes things rather easy for them. To add to the fun, their musical game is comple-mented by a soundtrack of special and musical effects that Buzz simply can’t get enough of! The result is hilarious and impressive!

Guess it just goes to prove that, as they say, the show must go on. And, with Buzz, what a fabulous show it is!

Free, no reservation required. Show will be in French.

Launch of the book entitled “En mode allergies” by Chérilyne Lalonde and Anne-Marie Lafleur, Éditions La Semaine.

Learning that your child is suffering from a severe food allergy or multiple allergies can be quite a shock! Often feeling helpless in this situation, parents are unable to find resources to help them or advice from those who have been there before. At least, that’s how Chérilyne Lalonde felt when her 6-month-old was diagnosed with multiple allergies. There were no suggestions for how-to guides to dealing with her son’s new reality, and her own at the same time! Seven years later, after doing tons of research in order to develop daily strategies and tricks that have allowed her son to live with food allergies, Chérilyne has gathered all of her mommy tips so she can share them with others. Her book includes a variety of topics including how to accept the situation, organize your kitchen, tackle grocery shopping, dealing with those around you, and preparing your child for being part of society, with the sole objective of helping parents in need start things off on the right foot.

With André Fauteux, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief at La Maison du 21e siècle (maisonsaine.ca), the first Canadian magazine on healthy and eco-friendly homes, which he founded in 1994. Lecture will be in French.

Research conducted by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) has shown that a home can have a major impact on the health of its occupants. In this conference, you will learn:

• How to control levels of humidity in order to prevent or resolve issues related to moisture or other micro-organisms;

• How to heat without poisoning yourself with exhaust gas;

• How to identify and eliminate the main sources of chemical pollution (consumer materials and products);

• Which fruits and vegetables contain the most and least amount of pesticides;

• How to control insects and other parasites without using pesticides;

• How to prevent, detect and correct issues with radon (radioactive gas that can infiltrate our homes and is the second leading cause of lung cancer);

• How to measure, identify and reduce electromagnetic fields and their effects on health.

The adventure of Babu, the baby yakas told by Chantale Robinson

This story tells of the special moments when Chantale Robinson had the opportunity to meet a baby yak named Babu and a crow named Roussel in the elevated areas of the Sagarmatha Valley in Nepal. This once-in-a-lifetime experience inspired the author to write a book and set her sights on a new goal in life: to finish her Master’s Degree and teach children the magic of imagination and the art of storytelling.

We are never too old or too young to set new goals for ourselves, dream and dare to make the impossible a reality. Come spend some time with Babu and Roussel. Let them inspire your children and give them the courage to visualize their dreams, and make them a reality!

The Laughter Yoga is a unique concept which consists of laughing for no particular reason, without jokes or humour. It was based on scientific research which demonstrates that our body will not see any difference between a simulated laugh and a natural one, because it releases the same energy. We get the same benefits, physically and psychologically. The laughter Yoga consists of exercises and yoga breathing techniques. The sessions last for 45 minutes and are based upon the techniques and principles established by Dr Kataria, who is the founder of the international movement of the Laughter Yoga.

Club Octogone Les Friandises de Saint-Lazare What is a club Octogone? It is the “youth version” of an optimist club, i.e. a club led and composed of young people aged 10 to 18 years under the supervision of adults of the optimist club. Our mission is to serve to help and to encourage youth and our community as well as organizing activities for our age group.
