Allowing Connect access to your microphone/webcam

Recording your voice for the first time in Connect* The first time you respond to a question that requires you to record yourself, you may need to allow Connectpermission to access your microphone or webcam. The steps to grant permission are easy.

Start by simply clicking on any “record my voice” button.

A window will appear, explaining the steps to take that will allow Connect to record your voice.

First: make sure that the “Record Volume” is all the way up and that the “Reduce Echo” box is checked.This will make sure your voice is as clear as possible when your instructor listens to your responses.

Now you just have to adjust a few other settings from the privacy tab.

*Ensure that you are using Firefox, Edge, or Internet Explorer when completing activities using the "record my voice" feature.

Return to your assignment

Select “Allow” to make sure you will be able to record your voice.

Close the window to access your assignment again. There is one final step after this to apply the settings you’ve just chosen.

Check the box next to “Remember” to make sure you don’t have to go through these steps again on this computer. Any time in the future that you need to record your voice in Connect you will be ready to go!

Reload the pageTo make sure your changes are applied, you will need to reload (also called refresh) the page.You can right-click anywhere in the question and select “Reload” or “Refresh” from the choices that appear.

Or you can click the reload button in the address bar at the top of your web page.

You may get a message asking you to confirm that you really want to refresh or reload the page.Don’t worry, the work you have done in your assignment so far will not be lost!

Click “Continue.” Do not click “Cancel” or you will not be able to use the recording feature.

You are all set to record your voice in Connect!

From now on, when you click a “record my voice” button in a Connect assignment, it will start recording.You will not need to go through the earlier steps again on this computer.
