Reconciliation
Part 1 of 3 on the road to revival. We must understand Gods power to reconcile us to
Him through the cross. For each of the three parts we will see a partnership betweenthings God is doing and things we must be doing.
Definition of reconcile to win over to friendliness, to bring into agreement or harmony,
make compatible or consistent, to restore.Romans 5:6-8 (think of definition as we read, look for a need to be reconciled) our
initial state was one of total hopelessness. We were powerless and sinful.
Romans 5:9 (justify to declare innocent or guiltless) we are saved from Gods wrathbecause of Jesus power to reconcile us (to restore us and make us friendly once again).
Romans 5:10-11 think for a moment the depths of this great salvation you had as
your enemy the most terrifying, awesome, dreadful, powerful being in the universe. You
were His ENEMY, and in His holiness He would destroy you and pour out His wrath onyou (wrath strong or fierce anger resulting in vengeance or punishment, fury).
Matthew 10:28 do we now understand what it means to fear the Lord? If you continue
to live the way you want to the wrath of God will come upon you make no mistake,
God cannot be mocked, a man reaps what he sows Turn toGalatians 6:7-8
2 Corinthians 5:11 you must know what it means to fear the Lord (Proverbs 1:7)(important evangelism tip #1)
2 Corinthians 5:17-20 be reconciled to God verse 18 tells us that up to this point
we had no part in bringing reconciliation to the world. But verse 20 gives us a command
be reconciled. That means we have the choice to either accept or reject this greatsalvation.
Colossians 1:19-20 talking of Jesus, we see a continuing truth to the Romans, to the
Colossians, to the Ephesians, Paul writes again and again about Jesus ability to reconcileus (important evangelism tip #2).
Colossians 1:21-23
Jesus blood makes you completely holy, without blemish, and freefrom accusation under one condition if you continue in your faith, established andfirm. This is our part to play in all this we accept His reconciliation through the cross,
and we continue everyday striving to be like Him. And God has not made it impossible
to be perfect! On the contrary He did all the hard work
Colossians 2:9-12 consider circumcision: does the skin ever grow back? No! Why
would we believe the sin nature should grow back? Weve been thoroughly deceived by
the enemy to believe that as Christians its ok to keep sinning (Romans 6:1-7). If a
Christian is freed from sin then we have a question to ask
2 Corinthians 13:5 are you passing the test?
2 Peter 3:10-14 make every effort to be found spotless, blameless, and at peace with
Him.
Next week well talk about restoration this comes after you have been reconciled toGod.
