CRYSTAL EAGLE LEADERSHIP AWARD WINNER

The Crystal Eagle Leadership Award is presented annually to a member of the American Society for Health Care Engineering whose contributions have affected the health care facility management profession and made a difference to the Society. Often referred to as “ASHE’s lifetime achievement award,” this award recognizes those who have been instrumental in the creation and optimization of healing environments.

As the Vice President of Facilities Services, led the centralization of all Advocate Health Care’s facilities operations. Beginning in 2010, York has aligned best practices, standardized CMMS system, reduced contracted services and reduced energy consumption throughout Advocate’s portfolio of 12 hospital campuses and over 300 free standing sites of care. Actual documented costs savings to Advocate of more than $127 million. He implemented Zone Maintenance across all of Advocate. Looked upon as best practice for increasing patient, associate and customer satisfaction while reducing response times and operating costs, hosted numerous Summer Interns through ASHE, providing encouragement to college students to enter the healthcare facilities professions. In fact, several of York’s interns are currently working in leadership positions in healthcare facilities management throughout the country.

York received the 2017 ASHE President’s Award and his passion for the health care facility management field and tireless pursuit to share his knowledge with others has made ASHE proud to name him the 2019 Crystal Eagle Leadership Award recipient.

PRESIDENT’S AWARD

The President’s Award is presented at the discretion of the sitting ASHE president to an individual who has made significant contributions to the health care facility management profession and has gone above and beyond the call of duty in support of the Society.

Linda Dickey’s background includes direct nursing experience in adult critical care and over 20 years of experience in Epidemiology & Infection Prevention, with most recent experience in Quality and Patient Safety. She has worked as an infection preventionist in both Florida and California, serving as president-elect for the Florida Professionals in Infection Control, treasurer for the California APIC Coordinating Council and president for her local Orange County APIC chapter. Since 2004, Linda has spoken at numerous events, including APIC chapter meetings and national conferences. Linda also currently represents APIC on the board of FGI Guidelines and with ASHRAE 188, which published a new standard in 2016 for Legionella management. Linda has been a faculty member for the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) since 2006, speaking nationally and internationally on health care design, construction and most recently, water management plan development. In addition, she was the project leader behind a recently published CDC-sponsored infection prevention publication titled “Using the Health Care Physical Environment to Prevent and Control Infection.”
