Practise your letter

formation. Remember to start on the red dot. Can you write lots of good ones?

This week in phonics phase 4 we will be using the phase 3 sounds so have your mat handy to help. (See bottom of the documents) The sounds included today are ‘ng’ ‘ai’ and ‘ee’, can you find these on your mat? Can you read these words and add sound buttons; tree, thing, Paint, trail, green, creep, bleed, bring Read the sentence; He saw a green train zooming along the track. Write these words. Each word has 4 sounds in them. Can you make 4 sound buttons on your paper. Say the word ‘steep’ what sounds can you hear? Steep, swing, train Challenge. Can you write this sentence; The hill is very steep.

LO: To be able to write a story beginning

Continue writing the beginning of your story from last Thursday.

Just to refresh your memory;

First; decide how to open your story. You can use Once upon a time, a long time ago, a million years ago or anything else you can think of.

Next; using your plan from yesterday write a sentence or 2 describing your setting. Remember to explain what you can see.

Then; introduce your character/s, again using your plan to write a sentence or 2 that describes what they look like and what they like to do or what their personality is like.

For example; A long time ago there was a land covered in bright green grass. Tall volcanos touched the sky puffing out clouds of smoke. There was a little green dinosaur with a toothy grin and big sparkly eyes called Timothy T-Rex. He was a cheeky, playful dinosaur always looking for some fun. His mummy always said to him beware of the red, roaring volcano it is dangerous and can erupt lava at any point.

* Have a go, try your best and remember it is your story and your teachers will be proud with anything

you manage to write. If you don’t know how to

spell something just have a go at using your phonics to sound it out and write the sounds that

you hear. We wouldn’t expect you to be able to spell dinosaur so if you hear and write it like this

for example, dinsr, then well done for giving it a shot.

This week's Christian Value is

'Endurance'.

Think about how you can show

endurance this week. How can you persevere? How can you keep

going when something is difficult? How can you overcome a tricky

problem?

Think of/ write yourself a short message to encourage yourself to

show endurance this week.

LO: To be able to write the middle of a story Listen to the story again from last week, focus on the middle of the story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5E4qmlFAQTw

What happened in the middle? In the middle of a story there is often a problem created. What was the problem?

You have written the beginning of you story we are now going to focus on the middle. How can you develop your own dinosaur stories? What could happen to your dinosaur character? What problem could there be? Might they lose something precious, be lonely and have no one to play with, get lost in the jungle, find some treasure……

Today you are going to make a plan for the middle of your story. You do not need to write in detail but just make ‘notes’ like you did last week. This means writing a few words instead of sentences.

Timothy’s friend Daisy Diplodocus. Timothy T-Rex takes his friend to see volcano.

He lies says it is erupting. Daisy tells other Dinosaurs. Next day Timothy says the lie again, and again

On tapestry listen to the story Dinosaurs love underpants.

Can you discuss with your grown up the three parts to this story. What happens in the beginning? Who are the characters? Where is the story set? What happens in the middle? What is the problem? Using your plan from yesterday you are going to write the middle of your story today and tomorrow For example; One day Timothy asked his friend Daisy Diplodocus to walk to the edge of the jungle to look at the volcano. Timothy climbed a rocky cliff to get a good view. He shouted down to Daisy the volcano is erupting! She ran to tell the other dinosaurs and Timothy stomped home laughing. The next day Timothy and Daisy visited the same rock. Timothy roared the volcano is erupting. Daisy ran trembling to tell the other dinosaurs. Timothy stomped home laughing. At the end of the week Timothy stood on the tall cliff and saw red hot lava trickling down the volcano. Daisy folded her arms and said she would not tell the other dinosaurs. He stomped home roaring lava lava but nobody listened.

LO: To be able to write the middle of a story

Lastly what happens in the end? Is it a happy ending? Is the problem solved? What was the problem in the middle of your story? How can this be solved? Can you write the ending to your story. For example; At the end of the week Timothy stood on the tall cliff and saw red hot lava trickling down the volcano. He told Daisy. Arms folded she said she would not tell the other dinosuars. He stomped home roaring lava lava but nobody listened. Daisy felt the air getting hotter. She looked up and saw bright red lava. Daisy swished home shouting lava lava! RE. LO: To know that Christians

believe that God wants everyone to help take care of our own parts of the

world (AT1) LO: To show that I understand the

importance of looking after my part of the world (ie my school or home)

(AT2)

Prepare: Show the children the

images of lots of tidy areas around the school or in a home. Then show children lots of pictures of un tidy areas in a home. Ask:

How do the images make us feel? Think about who is responsible for tidying it up? Christians believe that everyone is responsible for looking after our environment because we are borrowing God’s world and need to look after it. What could you do to look after your home and garden or school when we return?

Time for reflection: Say the School Creed together. How successful have you been at showing endurance this week? Look back at your message to yourself from Monday. Is there something you would like to add and look back on next week to encourage yourself even more to show endurance? Were there times when you did not show endurance and gave up too easily? What can you learn from that time? Is there something that can help you when you face a challenge in the future?
