Some important points that were mentioned

- If you need to take impressions, make sure you know the facultys preference (you are workingwith).

o Some may want you to make a custom tray instead of using the stock tray- In the clinic the class will be divided into four groups (A,B,C,D) consisting of 25 students each

and each group of 25 will have 25 seniors to help us out

- Once you make a treatment plan you bring it to the computer room where a PEF is generated.o It outlines a whole list of procedures that need to be done.o PEF tells you what the patients class is

Also he mentioned that when taking medical history and recording medicationthat the patient is on

You should google it if you dont know what the drug is Faculty expects us to know what the drugs are

o We will be asked questions on the clinic floor- Procedure codes

o One you perform a procedure you record it by entering the exam performed followedby the procedure code

Such as adult prophy- 1110- Why use a probe?

o To measure pocket depth and attachment losso To measure Width of keratinized tissueo Visualize topography of the bone if any defects are present

- Why do we want to evaluate tissue qualityo In order to see if the patient has any underlining systemic diseases

- If plaque index is high on a patiento Ask them how they brush their teetho Dont tell them they are not brushing their teeth

- The cavitron has four hook ups/four wires connected to ito Foot pedalo Handpoiece

We usually use the Green cavitron tip in the clinico Water lineo Electric line

- When doing a cleanino Begin with one quadrant at a time

Use the cavitron first Use the scaler

The above two remove any gross calculus Then use a gracey curette

Get under the calculus Make sure shank is parallel to the tooth Push cutting edge against the tooth Pull up

Go back with the cavitron Then flush out everything with water syringe in the gingival sulcus

- Paperworko Do not skip lines when writing the SOAPAo If you need to add any detail that you forgot

Make a note in the next line

Then have it signed by the facultyo If you need to cross out something

Draw a straight line through it, make the edition on a new line and have facultyinitial it
