Scottsdale Leadership was founded 25 years ago by DonRuff, Art DeCabooter, Gary Shaprio and Kathryn "Sam"Campana. The vision was to create a legion of engaged citizenswho could make informed decisions about what was best forthe community.
Coming to consensus on issues such as population growth, local economics, and education is challenging. Scottsdale Lead-ershi p' s mission is to prepare indi viduals for taking on suchchallenges through a nine-month interactive program. Eachclass day features a topic such as public safety, sustainabil-
ity, Scottsdale history, socialservices, arts and culture, and government. Participantshave the opportunity to meetdecision makers in each ofthese fields and learn thechallenges and opportunitieswe face today.

RECOLLECTIONS:GREULICH'SAUTOMOTIVE"My father and my oldest brother, Greg, decided to open up an automotive machineshop in 1979, and I remember my dadspeaking to Herb Drinkwater at his liquorstore about where Scottsdale was growingto, and his only answer was, 'You wantto be in the Scottsdale Airpark.' In 1979,Thunderbird Road didn't go through toHayden, and it seemed like the middleof nowhere, but that's where Greulich'sAutomotive began and the rest is history.Congratulations to the Scottsdale AirparkNews on 30 years!"

CAUTION DRIVERS!As more and more business complexes spring up in the area, traffic increases. There arefew stop signs and stoplights around and even fewer speed limit signs posted; but theway some cars barrel through the area, you'd think it was qualifying trials at the Indy500.We suggest some caution when driving through the Airpark vicinity.
