Holy Spirit and 46 Rotary clubs join hands to distribute 20,000 books to needy schools
Sixty-seven elementary schools and thirty-six highschools in Quezon City and in other parts of the countrywill be recipients of textbooks and reference books pro-vided by SM Foundation Inc (SMFI). The turn-over ofbooks to 47 participating Rotary clubs on May 19, 2014at the Don Antonio Heights clubhouse in BarangayHolySpirit was organized by RC Holy Spirit which has a his-tory of partnership and continuing collaboration withSMFI.
It took two (2)truckloads to haul20,000 books andpamphlets fromthe SM ware-house in Quiapodistrict to the club-house. The tasksof sorting, batch-ing and taggingthe books forthree (3) hot andhumid afternoonsfell on the handsof Rotarians, Ro-taractors and In-teractors of Holy
Spirit. By May 19, the books were already organizedand ready to be turned over to the FCPs.
A very short program was prepared for the book distri-
bution activity by IPPMarcia Salvador whochaired the event. FCP DrBong welcomed all theFCPs and their represen-tatives. DG FrancisRivera came to congratu-late all the participatingclubs in this literacy im-provement initiative.
Present to assist the par-ticipating clubs were PEMarites Nepomuceno, LG/PP Linda Palattao, AdmChair Ric Salvador, andRtns Percy Zabala, ChinChin Jurado and Jerry Sy.Of course, the distributionwould not have been ex-peditiously done were itnot for the hard-workingRotaractors who even car-ried the volumes of books
to waiting vehicles. What a concrete show of serviabove self! The Interactors would have wanted to hetoo, but they were busy in their schools Brigada Eswelaactivity. The trollies provided by PP Ped Condeand PN Angel Castro were a great help.
To Ms Connie Angeles, Executive Director of SMFI,
our heartfelt thanks for the usual invaluable support.
To Omero Printgraphix, many thanks for the use of covered van inhauling the books.
In addition tohelping raise liter-acy level of stu-dents in publicschools, this pro-
ject is consideredimportant by lead-
ers of RC HolySpirit because it ispart of the clubscontinuing rela-tionship with SMFoundation, andbecause it pro-vides opportunityto work togetherwith a large number of clubs in the district in a meaninful project that reaches a great number of needy beneciaries in the city and far-away towns.

The Object of RotaryFirst formulated in 1910, the Object of Rotary is to encourage and
foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in par-

sonal, business, and community life;
. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill,
and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional
persons united in the ideal of service.
