is a nonprofit, user-owned, distributed social network that is based upon the free Diaspora software.

Diaspora consists of a group of independently owned nodes (called pods) which interoperate to form the network. As of March 2014, there are more than 1 million Diaspora accounts.

Daily work

● We meet everyday from 1:00 to 6:00 and also work on our own in the mornings and evenings.

● We are working in the NIRD office so Renée is available to coach us when she is here.

● We have been meeting with GoToMeeting when she is traveling.

● All of the NIRD staff has been helpful and are happy to answer questions. Kerri has been available on campfire.

BloggingOne of the recommendations done by RGSoC is to write a blog, where the experience and knowledge of SoC is shared, it gives organizers an idea of the evolution of the students and as a student is a good way to fix concepts learned.

First feelings

● The project is more complex than we expected so progress sometimes feels slow but we are learning a lot of “real-life” lessons and making progress.

● We are enjoying learning together and getting to know each other, our coaches, our mentors and fellow diaspora* developers.
