the ambient temperature exceeds the product spec (-35°C to +60°C)
5 Compatibility Component
Name Description
1. Software
Upgrade
1. Software upgrade can be applied to any previous RADWIN 5000 releases.
2. Software Upgrade Package for Release 3.4.85 can be obtained from RADWIN partner zone web
site: https://pz.radwin.com/
3. RADWIN 5000 Release 3.4.85 LA is not compatible with RADWIN 5000 prior to release 3.4.50
LA, due to a new Air interface protocol. This means that HSUs that running release older than
3.4.50 cannot synchronize to HBS that running release 3.4.85 and vice versa. Software Upgrade to
release 3.4.85 is required for the HBS and all the HSUs in the sector.
4. In respect of a software upgrade for a sector operating in the 5.4 FCC band and for which the
operating channel is within the frequency range 5600 - 5650 MHz: The software upgrade will
enable ACS for all the available channels.
5. In respect of a software upgrade for a sector operating in 4.9 Universal band and for which the
operating channel is within the frequency range of 4990 - 5000 MHz: The software upgrade will
enable ACS for all the available channels (for further details, refer to line 2 in the Limitation
section below).
2. Software
Downgrade
1. Software downgrade from release 3.4.85 LA to release 3.2.75 LA is not available, thus RADWIN
5000 units with release version prior to 3.3 should be upgraded to 3.4.85 LA for compatibility.
3. Firmware
RADWIN 5000 Radios are not compatible with WinLink 1000 or RADWIN 2000 Radios.
The new features listed above require release 3.4.85 on both the HBS and its HSUs.
Additional restrictions are listed below:

6 Resolved Issues Issue Name Description Resolution
1. RSS balance indication RSS balance indication is not displayed when
RADWIN Manager is connected to HBS Release 3.4.85
2. Spectrum view Spectrum view doesn’t work for C-Plus radios
when link is synchronized Release 3.4.85
3. RNMS RNMS fails to execute RADWIN Manager
that uses SNMPv3 protocol RADWIN Manager Release 9.5.40
4. SW Upgrade
Selection of SW Upgrade package from CD
doesn’t work, resulting with missing package
error (error 3023)
RADWIN Manager Release 9.5.40
5. NMS Trap Service
NMS Trap Service uses port 162 after PC
startup and blocks this port for use by other
applications
RADWIN Manager Release 9.5.40
6. RADWIN Manager RADWIN Manager cannot manage WinLink
1000 radios with release prior to 1.8.00 RADWIN Manager Release 9.5.40
7 Limitations Issue Name Description
1. Performance
Degradation under AES-
256
Under AES-256 operation, sector performance might degrade by up to ~10% on 40MHz
Channel BW with small packets size (64B/128B) and Max TX ratio
8 Known Issues from previous releases
8.1 HBS/HSU Issues
Issue Name Description Workaround
1. Missing SNMP Traps
Some SNMP traps might be missing after
HBS reset :
- HBS ready
- Management port status changed to
disconnected
Not service affected
2. Channel BW change
problem
Channel bandwidth switch from 10 to 20 MHz
on edge channels (Center frequency that is not
available on 20MHz) fails without
notification, and the sector continues to work
on 10MHz
Change frequency to a none edge channel
and change the channel bandwidth to
20MHz
3. HSU Device Reset
Occasionally, HSU reset may occur under full
capacity traffic at steady state under
20/40MHz channel BW
HSU Link recovers automatically after reset
4. Multiple HSMs
If a HBS is set as HSC-CT and detects
Multiple HSS sources with different Tx ratios,
its own Tx ratio changes continuously (trap is
send every second)
Remove redundant HSMs
5. Min Tx Power
In FCC/ETSI frequency bands the Minimum
Tx power can be set to a value of -11dBm
whereas the minimum should be -8dBm.
Set Minimum Tx power to -8dBm
6. Traffic Block Traffic does not pass from HSU to HSU
where a HBS LAN cable is disconnected
Reconnect HBS LAN cable and traffic
resumes
7. QoS
Best Effort priority queue throughput is
occasionally smaller by 10% than the
configured weight
RADWIN 5000 - Release 3.4.85
Release Note
March 2014 Page 17 of 21
Issue Name Description Workaround
8. LAN Port 100HD
Occasionally, when the HSU LAN port is
configured to auto-negotiate mode and it is
operating with equipment configured to
100FD, traffic might not be transferred under
100HD.
Change the mode of the equipment
connected to the HSU to auto-negotiate
mode and reset HSU device
9. HBS/HSU sync loss In rare cases, HBS/HSU sync loss may occur
under high interference and traffic load Link recovers automatically after sync loss
10. HBS sync time In rare cases, HBS sync time might be longer
than expected and can reach up to 20 seconds
11. HBS Ethernet Service
In rare cases, After multiple Sector sync loss
the Ethernet service may not be available
although Ethernet service display is active in
the RADWIN Manager
Perform HBS device reset
12. HBS/HSU Sync-Loss
Sync loss may occur once decreasing
HBS/HSU Tx power by 10dBm or more at
once
Link recovers after sync loss
automatically
Decreasing Tx power gradually
13. HBS/HSU BIT Failure
In a very rare cases, HBS/HSU might enter
into "BIT failed" state after device reset, while
no actual BIT error
Perform HBS/HSU device reset
14. Wrong SNMP Trap
Description
In rare cases , once disconnecting HSS pulse
cable from HSC site, the SNMP Trap reason
is "Improper Sync pulse" instead "Sync pulse
disappeared"
Ignore wrong trap description
15. Wrong RSS Display
Wrong RSS displayed on Link in Diversity
Antenna mode, when one of antenna ports is
physically disconnected
Ignore wrong RSS values and connect
antenna port
16. 3.5GHz Spectrum View
Interference level display at the lower
channels on antenna A, might deviate up to
10dB from the actual level
Ignore interference level display of antenna
A at the lower frequencies between 3.300-
3.450 GHz
17. 3.5 GHz High PERs in
short distances
In rare case, Link under RSS level of -40dBm
and higher may suffer from PERs and wrong
RSS values
Reduce Tx power to reduce RSS level
below 40dBm
18. No PING
In rare cases, HSU is not reply to Ping over
the Air interface when the HSU is configured
with 1 TS and link is operating under 5MHz
channel BW
1. Disable flooding protection mechanism
2. Add Time slots to HSU with 1 TS
19. HBS Downlink Traffic
In rare cases, HBS downlink traffic may be
blocked in a scenario of sector with more than
16 operational HSUs with full line speed
traffic during continues HSUs sync loss due to
strong interference
Reset HBS to resume downlink traffic
20. Wrong Spectrum
Display
In rare cases under 6.4 GHz frequency band,
spectrum viewer might display empty of
constant RSS values (-75dBm) under strong
interference (> -40dBm)
Re-run spectrum viewer
21. Wrong Spectrum
Display
In rare cases under 6.4 GHz frequency band,
spectrum viewer might display RSS values
that are lower by ~7dBm than actual measured
Changing channel might improve RSS

Mobility/Nomadic
HSU/HMU
In the mobility or nomadic service, it is not
possible to add Time slots to a specific service
level where the user initially set the number of
HSUs to the level (using “Add”)
Open any HSU (not necessarily active) at
the required level. Using Update Service,
change its number of time slots. The change
will apply to all HSUs at that level.
Limitation: There must be sufficient free
time slots.
14. HSU Link Status
Occasionally, after multiple HSU sync-losses,
HSU Link-Status might not be displayed in
the Manager, while connecting to the HSU
directly and not via the HBS. Service and link
is still up and running,
Ignore or reset HSU

9 Known Issues from current release
9.1 HBS/HSU Issues
Issue Name Description Workaround
1. VMU Throughput
degradation
Occasionally, VMU Wi-Fi throughput may
be degraded in case IP camera is configured
to multicast streaming and connected to the
POE-out port of the VMU
Set IP camera to unicast streaming mode
2. VMU interoperability
problem
VMU interoperability problem with
HP/3COM Switches use “Realtek” NIC.
Any traffic with packet-size greater than
2001Bytes will be discarded and not pass
through the unit
Replace switches if possible or limit max
packet size to 2000Bytes
3. Redundant Sync-loss
In rare cases, redundant sync losses may
occur after changing CBW or Frequency of
De-Registered HSU operating at 5/10MHz
CBW
Link recovers automatically after sync
loss (not service effective as unit is de-
registered)
4. Hanover due to HBS reset
When HBS is reset (suddenly stop
transmission) the VMU/HSU handover time
might take longer than expected
This is not a typical scenario. In typical
scenario the signal of the HBS start to
degrade and the HMU/VMU decide to
perform handover
9.2 RADWIN Manager
Issue Name Description Workaround
1. Wrong peak rate display
HBS that includes mixed of mobility/fixed
HSUs the actual peak rate of fixed HSUs
might be 10% higher than the Max possible
peak rate
Display issue only, reduce 10% from the
displayed peak rate
2. Wrong encryption type
indication
When AES 256 encryption is enabled and
operating by Mobility HBS/HMU radios
AES 128 indication is displayed
Display issue only – AES 256 works
properly
3. HMU Site Configuration
Occasionally, HMU Site Configuration via
HBS not responding and HBS Map is not
displayed after few sync losses or handoffs
Close and open new RADWIN Manager
instance
4. Mobility/Nomadic service
level
Mobility/Nomadic service level is not
displayed in Read Only mode Login with different user type
5. Bulk backup No indication for selection of a file with
wrong format for SWU/Bulk backup Use correct upgrade/backup file format
