Creativity is like a plant. It needs to be watered with care, so that it grows on you!

We, the Radical Baboons celebrate those who keep their creativity alive with passion. It is a friendly hub for artists of all kinds. We will be featuring those artists each month, whose stories are yet not told to many. Our aim is to provide their inspiring journeys with more support and Glück! As a journey is not always just smiles and chuckles; it has its own wax and wane. And often when we start one, the immediate feedback is usually repulsive. But keeping at it and staying happy is the mantra. Those who succeed at it should be remembered.

SEDAT born and brought up in Istanbul and have been living in there since then. He remained a curious one during his childhood focusing on things and observing it in detail As his mother tells him, he used to leave his crib in the middle of the night and she used to find him silently playing with my toys in the dark. It is OK to do these things when you’re a child however he is still close to being the same. He like being alone in the nighttime, he like ruminating and working while being

focused in quietness. He is still super curious. He mind being curious. He might have built up my imaginary world as a consequence of my curiosity and inspection. My works are the exact reflections of his inner world. He do not like illustrating things as they are. It excites me to draw cloud-cuckoo-land.

Q. Your work sounds simple and the characters are are so intriguing and personal one forgets the complexity in terms of behind the scenes.. how you came up with such a style... anything intentional or accidental.

As I mentioned before, they all are the reflections of my imaginary world. It was absolutely not on purpose. I had started art education at a very early stage of my life. Every single child is an artist beyond doubt. The most important thing is to pursue it. I think I am still a child and I keep living my childish imaginary world.

Q.We have observed the mere play of lines and those lovely soothing colors.. Please help us to understand the style of your work in your own words.. may be we are sounding wrong..

I really liked your words about my work. Well, actually I sometimes have difficulties describing my style. A little bit unpleasant, extreme but sympathetic and endeared at the same time. I like leaving people in a dilemma, making them be surprised. I sometimes draw a cliff between what they see and what they feel. I like this a lot.

Q.Your every work forces one to understand a message it wants to convey.. What message in general you will like the viewer to have in when it come across ..

Actually my purpose is to create emotional transposition. They come, they see and they feel something. I make them create that emotional describing. I do not want to restrict my works in the midst of words.  It is like tasting a dish; it is hard to tell its taste with words. All I do is to write open-ended narrations to what I illustrate.

Q.What medium do you use to come up with such ideas (its traditional or digital)...?

I prefer working traditionally when I am in preparation for an exhibition. It sounds more humane, more sincere to me. In my professional life I have to use digital since there is a time limit but I am attentive to create traditional taste in the digital works. My starting point consists of a paper and a pen.

Q. Will you like to share any behind the scenes in terms of story of any of your dear and most interesting project you came across..?

I have prepared a four-pieces series for an exhibition in London lately. It tells a story about a frog when it falls asleep and dreams. It is about the phase of falling asleep of a frog, its sexual dreams, and nightmares and striving to come back to reality. I suppose it is a free and fun story to tell. Because it is unlimited. Anything can happen in the dreams...!

Q. What principle you follow in your life.. how being an illustrator has changed the way you are now.. is it some-thing you always wished to be..?

I had never planned something like this. I studied industrial design in the university. I have also qualified for studying painting but I did not prefer. Dad being absent in my life I had to work and make money by own but he always advised  to do what I like the most. I realized that industrial design did not please me.

I graduated but I had nothing to do with the industrial design. I never stopped drawing. Afterwards, my illustrations began to attract attention and I found myself illustrating children books...

Q. What else you like to do and keeps you inspired..?

I play drums in a band called Eskiz. Me and my best friend had put the band together. Making music brings me peace. It is like a worship for me. Personally speaking, everyone should mind music and seek something different from what they do professionally.

“Making music brings me peace...

It is like a worship for me...”

Q. Your fav book or artist you follow and get inspired from..?

The list lasts forever but the paintings of Egon Schiele inspired me a lot when I was at the first stage of art education.

Q. where you will like to see yourself in coming days..?

I am where I am for now. I am not dreaming of radical changes. I merely endeavor to reach more people.

Q. what will be most challenging thing you will like to do in your life.. apart than what you do pro-fessionally..? anything you always wished to try your hand on but seems impossible ..

I would love to travel around the world in a balloon. Who knows? Maybe later. :D

Ernest, a Photographer by profession and an Animal lover by heart with 3 dogs and 12 fishes at his house, was born and brought up in Singapore. Its fascinating to see where he got his creative genes.. all the way from his Mother who used to run a wedding Gown Shop where she sometimes used to design some of her own.

Q. Animals for sure.. is your love but what made you to see the this two common (chickens and fish) to make them look so personal, unique and uncommon..?

Chickens and Fishes.. yes being common, I think… many as-pects and facts about them is often overlooked, like any other

they are fascinating in their own way and deserves the same appreciation.

Q. The very project THE FISH BOOK.. is an unique piece of art.. How you planned for such project.. Above all how the idea came up in your mind..?

Initially I started photographing the fish from the aquarium in my house with some add on from time to time, but after a month my aquarium could not hold any more fish so that was when I approach Qian Hu - a fish farm in Singapore. It was there that I photographed the bulk of the images in the book. The idea came to me when I wanted to complete a photo project that limited me to only shoot in my house. During the project many memories of being close to nature and animals came back to me. I realised it is something very close to me.

Q. How complicated is to photograph fishes the way you did..? for sure you make them look easy.. but nothing is easy..

It is not as complicated as most people think. It also depends on the fish I am shooting. Some are more 'cooperative' than others.

Q The golden fish was what you chose.. any intentional reason..?

I think photography is all about geometry and wanted document the round shape of the goldfish. As a pho-tographer, my job is to interpret and then present a subject in a picture by using a camera. The resulting picture then captures the attention and the imagination of the viewer. If I do it well enough, I can hopefully influence the viewer to be curious, and want to learn more and eventually appreciate the subject a little better.

Q. We are quite eager to know.. how you see the personal side of any animal??

Same as getting to know a person - by spending time with the animal and good observation.  :D

Q. your next unique Viral project on COCKS.. yes chickens are common, an animal considered dumb.. but for sure you enjoyed showcasing them in an unique one, how you hunted such beautiful ones and how you planned to photographed them...

Alike my previous book based over portrait study of ornamental fishes where I found that even a fish have expressions of some

kind and therefore perhaps some form of personality. So I went on to looking for other animals that might have expressions and personali-ties. One I wanted to explore working with animals that are so common that they are often overlooked. The chickens were perfect candidates.

I grew up in my grandmother's rural village in the 80's when it was still possible to see rural farmland in Singapore. At that time my playthings were little plastic water pistols and fishing nets. Time was spent ei-ther running after chickens in the front porch or by the stream catching fishes and frogs for my collection. The Fish Book project was my way to recollecting those memories.

I chanced upon the chicken beauty pageants while on another photo expedition to a farm in Malaysia. But when I arrived I found that the farmer had retired and sold the business and was not around. I man-aged to track him down and found him grooming his chickens at a chicken beauty contest. That was when I discovered this little known culture.

Q. apart being a photographing animals.. what else inspires you.. keep you engaged..?

Nature inspires me all the time. I take every opportunity to trek, hike or camp in the outdoors.

Q. last but not the least.. where you will like to see your self in coming years.. any other plans ..?

I would love run an animal shelter where kids can visit to learn about animals

Kaustabh, A chef by profession, Kitchen remains his foremost  Love. One who always seek for new and in-novative ideas about food and its appearance. It’s been six years now in kitchen profession.

Q.How and what made you to get into this profession, people inspired you.. or the real story of choosing this to be your profession

Since childhood I am very curious about cooking and its techniques. And that’s where I started taking interest in  food.

Cooking being not much of a men dominated arena, but as I started getting more into detail of this profession I found many Men taking it as seriously as I did. The overall factor of being in an uniform and other made me go for it..! later in my life...

Q.where are you presently and how your profession helps you to live up to your dreams

Presently working with Stanwood Sheraton Hotel in King of Prussia, PA, USA.. I started my profession as an apprentice in kitchen. So to become a chef and to have those untold facts about kitchen and home cooking and to understand the theory of People appreciating food via their visual than else senses. So any dish must have an appalling texture, aroma and taste. As an artist I always take care of each step of eating food to make it more and more temping in all three ways. Cooking new dishes and capturing them in beautiful way is all about my dreams, which I live every day.

Q.how intensive is your profession (positive and negative aspect).. what all it includes and how one can pursue the same.

Long working hours Is the intensive part of this profession like others. Its always nice to see the Appreciation from the people who enjoy our food and yes we never let them know whats behind the scene .. As the time is changing its great to see the respect this profession is getting like other..

KAUSTUBH MALUSHTE

An experience in some kind of professional kitchen or restaurant helps you get into any Hotel manage-ment academy It will help you to know how this industry works. Practicing the right way to handle the tools and its techniques is important.. as . Cooking at home is Not so like we have it in our behind the scenes... :). Best Wishes..!
