A LONG HISTORY Of HELPING PEOPLEUnited Way has been bringing people, organizations
and resources together to improve community
well-being since 1917. Hundreds of thousands of
people have given their time, talent, resources and
passion to transform the quality of life for people
in Buffalo and Erie County.
As a steward of the community, we:• Connect people to quality volunteer opportunities
• Raise awareness of the value that volunteers
bring to our community
• Mobilize volunteers effectively & efficiently
to meet local needs
• Provide training for volunteer coordinators & board
members to help enhance their skills, effectiveness
& positive impact on the community
• Offer guidance & technical assistance to local
nonprofits, enabling them to better utilize
volunteers & increase their capacity
• Educate people about the breadth of organizations
& services available to people in need in our community

High School VolunteeringOur online volunteer database, VolunteerWNY.org,
also serves as a valuable and easy-to-use resource
for high school students looking to complete their
community service hours.
Community Baby ShowerCompanies, groups and individuals across the
community host “baby showers” and collect items
to help at-risk moms and their babies with their
basic daily needs.
Holiday VolunteeringVolunteerWNY.org offers a special Holiday
Opportunities tab that features ways to make
a difference during the holiday season.
VolunteerWNY.orgA partnership with The Service Collaborative of WNY,
our comprehensive online database offers numerous
volunteer opportunities across the region, ranging
from one-time activities to ongoing commitments.
Our robust, user-friendly search options make
volunteering easy.
Day of CaringThe largest single-day volunteer event in WNY brings
thousands of people together to complete projects
that improve our community.
Family Volunteer DayParents, children, grandparents and neighbors
join together for a fun, rewarding day of helping
local nonprofits complete a variety of projects.
Corporate VolunteeringOur Business Meets Community program helps
businesses of all sizes connect employees with
SOMETHING fOR EVERYONEUnited Way helps connect individuals, families, teens and companies to volunteer opportunities where they can help strengthen our
