As Allah said in Al-qur’an :

“Hai manusia, sesungguhnya Kami menciptakan kamu dari seorang laki-laki dan seorang perempuan dan menjadikan kamu berbangsa – bangsa dan bersuku-suku supaya kamu saling kenal-mengenal. Sesungguhnya orang yang paling mulia diantara kamu disisi Allah ialah orang yang paling taqwa diantara kamu. Sesungguhnya Allah Maha Mengetahui lagi Maha Mengenal.”

2. MULTICULTURAL SOCIETY 2.1 Definition Multicultural society. Multiculturalism is technical term that use to explain

people opinion about the kinds of life in this world, or culture of wisdom that emphasize about the acceptance reality of religious concern, and the kinds of culture that any in society of life that involve values, system, custom, and the policy that they attentive.

2.2 DEFINTION MULTICULTURAL ACCORDING TO EXPERT “A Multicultural society, then is one that includes several

cultural communities with their overlapping but none the less distinc conception of the world, system of [meaning, values, forms of social organizations, historis, customs and practices”; Parekh, 1997 yang dikutip dari Azra, 2007).

Multikulturalisme mencakup suatu pemahaman, penghargaan serta penilaian atas budaya seseorang, serta suatu penghormatan dan keingintahuan tentang budaya etnis orang lain (Lawrence Blum, dikutip Lubis, 2006:174).

Sebuah ideologi yang mengakui dan mengagungkan perbedaan dalam kesederajatan baik secara individual maupun secara kebudayaan (Suparlan, 2002, merangkum Fay 2006, Jari dan Jary 1991, Watson 2000).
