C LU B L E A D E R S H I PCorner

Welcome to 2014 and the 20th Anniversary of the Penn Club! This will be an exciting year as the Club renews its physical plant and re-energizes its programs with dynamic speakers, many of whom are illustrious Penn Alumni.

In January, Mark Jezierski, joined us as our new General Manager. He has years of experience and expertise with private clubs and within the hospitality industry. He comes to us with many innovative ideas which will maintain the Club as among the best private Clubs in the world. Mark is eager to meet each one of you. When you are next in the Club, please make it a point to welcome him and introduce yourself.

The Penn Club is your club. The more you participate, the more it becomes yours. We are planning to broaden the variety of events and programs which reflect the varied interests of our membership. And, the Young Alumni Committee is hard at work creating ideas to make the Club vital for coming generations of members.

There are a number of Committees which keep the Club humming and vibrant. If you have an interest or special expertise which you are willing to share, send me an e-mail: [email protected].

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR: JUNE 10, 2014. This is the date of our 20th ANNIVERSARY GRAND CELEBRATION. It will be an event that you won’t want to miss. Specifics will be listed in future HapPENNings.

The Penn Club is our oasis in a very busy city. It is a home away from home. In the winter, it’s a place to sit by the fire, and in the summer, it’s a place to have a cool drink. In any season, know that the Club is always warm and welcoming to you and your guests. And, to make it even more so, we are creating a special portal for your input: [email protected]. Send us your ideas, suggestions, and comments. I can assure you that all communications will be considered.

Let’s make 2014 a year of renewal for our Club. I hope to see you there soon.

Regards,Susan Marx, CW’66Penn Club President

P.S. Don’t forget to go online to the Members Section of our website (www.pennclub.org) to check out the many benefits and perks which come along with your membership.

Nostalgic already? Well, leave your mix tapes at home. The Bayside Tigers will be in the house for a concert of the raddest, baddest 90s music, from Nirvana to Biggie. So don’t be a Screech! Whip out your brick phone, yank up that antenna, and call your friends. Make a reservation early because this party always sells out.

$55 per person. Includes an open bar of beer, wine and prosecco, a specialty cocktail for the first hour, and plenty of hors d’oeuvres, including Max Burgers and mini milkshakes, of course.
