And recall what time ye said: O Musa! we will not believe in thee until we see God openly; then a thunderbolt took hold of you while ye looked on.(55)Then We raised you after your death that haply ye may return thanks.(56)And We overshadowed you with Clouds and We sent down unto you the Manna and the quails, saying: eat of the clean things, wherewith We have provided you. And they wronged Us not, but themselves they were wont to wrong.(57)And recall what time We said: enter this town and eat plenteously therefrom as ye list, and enter the gate prostrating yourselves and say: forgiveness; We shall forgive you your trespasses, and anon We shall increase unto the well-doers.(58)Then those who did wrong changed the Word that had been told them for another; so We sent down upon those who did wrong a scourge from heaven, for they were wont to transgress.(59)And recall what time Musa prayed for drink for his people. We said: smite With thy staff the stone. Then there gushed forth thereout twelve springs; every people already knew their drinking-place; eat and drink of the provision of Allah, and commit not evil on the earth as corrupters.(60)And recall what time ye said: O Musa! we shall by no means bear patiently with one food, wherefore supplicate for us unto thy Lord that He bring forth for us of that which the earth groweth, of its vegetables, and its cucumbers, and its Wheat, and its lentils, and its onions. He Said: would ye take in exchange that which is mean for that which is better! Get ye down into a City, as verily therein is for you that which ye ask for. And stuck upon them were abjection and poverty. And they drew on themselves indignation from Allah. This, because they were ever disbelieving in the signs of Allah and slaying the prophets without justice. This, because they disobeyed and were ever trespassing.(61)

1) About the Interpretation of And recall what time We said: enter this town and eat plenteously therefrom as ye list, and enter the gate prostrating yourselves and say: forgiveness; We shall forgive you your trespasses, and anon We shall increase unto the well-doers. Ali Ibn Abu Talib said: Baab Hittah (A gate in Al-Aqsa Mosque) was set for children of Israel. You! Followers of Muhammad! Baab Hittah of the People of the House was also set for you in order to follow their guidance path so that your sins will be forgiven and position of well-doers will improve. Your Baab Hittah is better than theirs. Because theirs was just a piece of wood but yours are the honest, faithful, wise and advising speakers. That is why the prophet (saaw) says: Stars in the sky are safe from sinking as my followers are safe from getting astray. They will never be perished in religion until they follow the People of the House. (Translation of 7th Volume of Bihar-ul-Anvar, Khosravis translation 1st Volume p84)

2) About and enter the gate prostrating yourselves Ali al-Ridha said: We (People of the House) are your gates (Baab Hittah) (Interpretation of Mahmoud Ibn Masoud Abashi, 1st Volume p45)

3) About the interpretation of And recall what time We said: enter this town and eat plenteously therefrom as ye list, and enter the gate prostrating yourselves and say: forgiveness; We shall forgive you your trespasses, and anon We shall increase unto the well-doers Hasan ibn Ali Al Askari said: God addresses children of Israel so that they enter Jericho in Palestine while falling prostrate for the sign of Muhammad and Ali Ibn Talib to thank their soundness, after leaving Tih desert and They had to renew their covenant so that God forgives their sins. God orders them: Enter through that door while you are falling prostrate and say: God! Please forgive our sins and faults. God will certainly add to what well-doers do. But they did not listen to Moses and said something else in Egyptian which means wheat is better than accepting their leadership. Then those who did wrong changed the Word that had been told them for another. Their disobedience made God put a pestilence in their community. In half of a day one hundred and twenty thousand people died due to that pestilence. That was the penalty for disobeying Muhammad, Ali Ibn abu Talib and his children. so We sent down upon those who did wrong a scourge from heaven, for they were wont to transgress (Ghisas-ul-Anbia Nematullah Jazaeri Azizis translation p392)

4) About And recall what time Musa prayed for drink for his people. We said: smite With thy staff the stone. Then there gushed forth thereout twelve springs; every people already knew their drinking-place; eat and drink of the provision of Allah, and commit not evil on the earth as corrupters Hasan ibn Ali Al Askari said: The reason why they requested water was, that children of Israel felt a raging thirst in desert and sheltered to Moses while crying. They said: Thirst is killing us. Moses prayed: God! I swear to Muhammad, master of the prophets, Ali Ibn Abu Talib, master of the executors, Fatimah, mistress of all women, Hassan, master of the masters, Husayn, master of the martyrs and their successors who are the masters of well-doers, so that you rescue these servants. God ordered Moses: Strike that stone with your wand. Moses did so. Then twelve springs seethed beneath it and every tribe knew their fountain and they would not annoy each other from that point on. (Tafsir related to Hasan ibn Ali Al Askari p261)

5) Ja'far al-Sadiq intoned This, because they were ever disbelieving in the signs of Allah and slaying the prophets without justice. This, because they disobeyed and were ever trespassing and said: I swear to God that they themselves did not kill the prophets with their hands and swords but they heard their speeches and disclosed them. The prophets ran into trouble because of them and were killed. So this disclosure became their sin which ended in assassination of the prophets. (Kaafi Sheykh Koleyni 4th Volume p247)
