BLOCK ASSEMBLY PROJECT USES PRECISE 1/4” SEAMS. TEST YOUR SEAM ALLOWANCE BY CUTTING (2) 2-1/2” X 5” RECTANGLES. STITCH THEM TOGETHER ALONG THE 5” LENGTH. AT THE MIDPOINT, MEASURE ACROSS THE UNIT. IT SHOULD BE EXACTLY 4-1/2” WIDE. IF NOT, ADJUST YOUR SEAM ALLOWANCE AND REPEAT.

(4) 18-1/2” x 16-1/2 blocks, FUSSY CUT.

(8) 2” x WOF strips, sub-cut each strip into (1) 2” x 21-1/2” strip and (1) 2” x 16-1/2” strips.

(1) 6-1/2” x WOF strip, sub-cut (16) 2-1/2” x 6-1/2” strips.(1) 5-1/2” x WOF strip, sub-cut (16) 2-1/2” x 5-1/2” strips.(2) 4-1/2” x WOF strips, sub-cut (32) 2-1/2” x 4-1/2” strips.

(5) 2-1/2” x WOF strips, sub-cut (80) 2-1/2” squares.

(1) 2-1/2” x WOF strip, sub-cut (9) 2-1/2” squares.

Block1. Sew (1) B 2” x 16-1/2” strip to each side of (1) A 18-1/2” x 16-1/2” block. Sew (1) B 2” x 21-1/2” strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A block. Trim the block to measure 20-1/2” x 18-1/2” to make (1) Unit 1 block. Repeat to make (4) Unit 1 blocks total.

2. Place (1) D 2-1/2” square on the right side of (1) C 2-1/2” x 5-1/2” strip, right sides together. Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner. Flip open the triangle formed and press. Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance to make (1) Unit 2 strip. Repeat to make (8) Unit 2 strips total.

3. Place (1) D 2-1/2” square on the left side of (1) C 2-1/2” x 5-1/2” strip, right sides together. Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner. 9. Sew (1) Unit 6 strip, (1) Unit 5 strip, (1) Unit 4 strip and (1) Unit 7 strip together end to end and in that order to make (1) Unit 9 strip. Pay attention to the orientation of the units. Repeat to make (8) Unit 9 strips total.

10. Sew (1) Unit 8 strip to each side of (1) Unit 1 block. Sew (1) D 2-1/2” square to each end of (1) Unit 9 strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Unit 1 block to make (1) Block One square. Repeat to make (4) Block One squares total.

Quilt Assembly11. Sew (3) E 2-1/2” x 22-1/2” strips and (2) Block One squares together, alternating them, to make (1) Pieced Row. Repeat to make a second Pieced Row.
