Wire CrimpCorrect selecti on of wire, terminal and tool.

It is important that crimp barrel is closed, wings support each other and that there is a suffi cient gap between wings and bott om of the crimp.(All strands needs to be deformed)

Both insulati on and conductor must be visible.

Terminal body not deformed.

Wire strands must be visible.

Seal not damaged.

Cut off tabs (Carrier cut off ).

Bell mouth must bepresent.

F-CRIMP / B-CRIMPCorrect wire (insulati on diameter),

tool and terminal. Insulati on is securely surrounded.

Insulati on wings closed.

Asymmetric crimp.

F-CRIMP / B-CRIMPInsulati on pierced(conductor can be

damaged).

Non closed crimp barrel (wire size too large).

WRAP OVER CRIMPWrong crimp height.

Insulati on is not securely held.

Crimp height too large(no deformati on of

strands).

OVERLAP CRIMPInsulati on pierced(conductor can be

damaged).

Wings too close to thebott om. Crimp showing

voids (wire size too small).

OVERLAP CRIMPInsulati on wings do not

overlap. Crimp height too large.

Asymmetric crimp,excessive burr or cracks.

F-CRIMP / B-CRIMP Insulati on wings not

closed. Crimp height too large.

Missing strand.

Insulati on of one or two wires is not securely held.

Crimp height too small (over crimped), wings touch

bott om of crimp.

WRAP OVER CRIMPCrimp height too small, Insulati on over crimped.

Terminal damaged. Terminal twisted. Cut off tab too long or deformed.

Insulati on inside the wire crimp and/orconductor brush protruding into terminal body.

Terminal bent.

Crimp barrel distorted.

Bellmouth on wrong side.

OVERLAP CRIMPCorrect wire (insulati on diameter),

tool and terminal.Insulati on is securely surrounded.

Insulati on wings overlap.

WRAP OVER CRIMPCorrect wire (insulati on diameter),

tool and terminal.Insulati on is securely surrounded. Insulati on wings must pass each

other.

WIRE SEAL CRIMPCorrect wire (insulati on diameter),

tool, seal and terminal.Seal is securely surrounded.

Insulati on wings must pass each other.

WIRE SEAL CRIMP (SYMMETRIC)Correct wire (insulati on diameter),

tool, seal and terminal.Seal is securely surrounded.

Insulati on wings closed. An overlap of insulati on wings is not allowed.

For double wire applicati ons with diff erent size wires always place wire with smallest outer diameter in the bott om.

Burr is acceptable as long as:1) Burr height less then terminal material thickness2) Burr width less then half of terminal material thickness

Consult individual specifi cati ons of each terminal type for crimp height and tolerances. CRIMP HEIGHT TESTING is a preferred testi ng method as it is quick, nondestructi ve and is criti cal for the terminati on‘s electrical and mechanical reliability.
