IT’S TIME FOR SCHOOL TO BEGIN
This Thursday, August 22, is the first day of school for
students. Students will come to school for a half day
and spend time getting acquainted with their teachers
and new classmates.
Friday, August 23, will be a full day of school for the
students. On this important day, teachers will contin-
ue with Group Interaction Activities to help the stu-
dents develop positive relationships with their class-
mates. Class schedules will be given; books will be
issued and classroom procedures will be discussed.
If your child rides the school bus, you can expect a
call from Ms. Ivy or the bus monitor to inform you of
the pick-up and drop-off times for your child. The first
two days can be a little uncertain as the drivers work
to develop the best routes. It’s our goal to have safe
and efficient transportation to and from school. Thank
you for your patience as we begin the new year.
Parents are always welcome to come to the school.
It’s important for you to be involved in your child’s
learning experiences. During these first two days, you
will want to see your child’s teacher/s, but please re-
member that they are very busy working to ensure
that their students know what to do and where to go.
In the first few days, teachers will also be communi-
cating with you as well so that you have some infor-
mation about the class.
If you have specific questions about your child’s aca-
demic program, please feel free to talk to your child’s
teacher. Most questions can be answered by the per-
son working most closely with your child. However, Dr.
Karen Hall, Director, Mr. Luke Woodruff, Director of In-
struction, and Mr. Dan Owen, Counselor/Resource, all
look forward to working with you as well. The doors at
QSI are always open.
Home and School working together can make this the
greatest QSI school year ever. We all, working togeth-
er, can make the greatest difference in your child/
children’s education.
Sincerely,
Dr. Hall
Director

about your child’s education.
General Meeting 7:00- 7:20
This meeting will be a general orientation to QSI Dongguan. During this time you will
learn more about how QSI operates, meet the administration, and office staff.
Meet the Teachers 7:30- 8:25
There will be three separate time blocks for you to go and meet the some of the differ-
ent teachers your child will have throughout the year. This is a good time to share con-
tact information with teachers, learn classroom expectations, and begin a dialogue con-
cerning the education of your child.
Block 1 - 7:30 - 7:45
Block 2 - 7:50 - 8:05
Block 3 - 8:10 - 8:25
7:00 - 8:25 PM
Parents, get involved in the school. The Parent’s Support Group (PSG) is always looking for parents who would like to help out and be a part of supporting the school programs. During the year, the PSG sponsors school activities and fundraising events which serve to benefit the school and students. Parents meet on the second Wednesday of every month. All parents are welcome to participate, as a variety of opinions and ideas is always needed and valued. Don’t hesitate to come in and ask more about how you can be involved in the school.
First meeting Wednesday, September 4th, at 2:30
QSI Dongguan offers a growing interscholastic sports program for both secondary and middle
school students. The goal of the program is to build a rich tradition where student-athletes learn
the values of teamwork, responsibility, leadership, and sportsmanship. If you have children that
are interested in participating in athletics, please have them talk to Ms. Long (shayla-
[email protected]) or Mr. Woodruff ([email protected]). Visit http://q-s-i.org/qsi-life/athletics/
to find out more about the athletics program, and read the athletics blog. You may also look at
the school calendar to see the athletics schedule, including practices, games, and tournaments.
Volleyball practice begins Monday, August 26th, for
secondary boys and girls interested in playing. Come
be a part of the team!
