• The Port of Ras Laffan located about 80 km

north of Doha in the State of Qatar, was built

by Qatar Petroleum as an export facility to

support Ras Laffan City (RLC).

• The purpose built Port of Ras Laffan has

been designed as the export facility for

liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquid petroleum

gas (LPG), condensates, petroleum products

and sulphur, derived from the processing of

gas landed from the North Field gas reservoir

which is situated 70 kilometers North-North

East (NNE) of the Port.

• Construction of the Port was completed in

1996, and today, after a major expansion

programmed, encompasses an area of 56

km² and houses LNG berths, liquid product

berths, dry cargo and off shore support

vessel facilities and dry docks, ship repair

and ship building facilities.

LNG Berths

RasLaffan Port has

six LNG berths of

which four are capable

of receiving Q-Max

vessels with a cargo

capacity of 266,000

cubic meters, the

largest of its kind in

the industry.

The other berths are

capable of receiving

QFlex and

conventional LNG

vessels which are

216,280 cubic meters

and 145,000 cubic

meters in capacity

respectively.

Liquid Product

Berths

There are six berths

that are currently

operational at the Port

of Ras Laffan. These

berths are designed

for products such as

condensate, LPG,

Pygas, GTL and

refinery products.

They are capable of

handling vessels

ranging in length from

160 to 345 meters

respectively.

Sulphur Berth

Ras Laffan Port has

one sulphur berth with

the capability of

handling vessels of up

to 60, 000 tonnes

displacement. The

combined rated

loading

rate of the two

shiploaders is 3,000

tons per hour.

.

Dry Cargo Berths

Six berths are

dedicated for dry

cargo of which two

offer RoRo facilities at

Ras Laffan.Port

Offshore Support

Vessel Berths

The port has fourteen

berths with facilities

for providing bunkers

and fresh water. The

berths are used for

supply and support

vessels servicing the

offshore exploration

and production

activities

.

Offshore SPM’s

(Single Point

Moorings)

Available are 2 SPM’s

located about 54 km

away from the Port of

Ras Laffan.

These SPMs can

accommodate vessels

ranging from 85,000 –

320, 000 DWT.

• The port of Mesaieed is located about 50 km south

of Doha in the State of Qatar, was initially selected

to export the crude oil produced from the onshore

Doha field due to its accessibility to a natural

channel and relatively deep water. First crude oil

was exported in December 1949 from two CBM

berths. Further industrialization followed by the

production of other petroleum products and LPG for

export.

• Currently commodities imported and exported

through Mesaieed Port account for about 60% of the

State's GDP. The Port handles over 1000 vessels

per year

• Depth – Limitations

Maximum beam - 60m.

Maximum draft - 12.5m for VLCCs;

- 13.0m for all other vessels.

Maximum trim - 3.0m.
