Thank you for picking up the first edition of the Charisma+2 Quarterly. I created this as a means to showcase gamers, models, and industry professionals

who fully realize that, yes, we are gamers, but also real people too! If you would like to have a printed copy of it, please visit Cplus2magazine.com/issues

Sometimes we need inspiration, sometimes we have some hopeto give. At times, we just want to be fun and silly or play games and cosplay.

Other times, we simply want to discover the real story of the lives behind some of the Other times, we simply want to discover the real story of the lives behind some of the industry’s leading professionals (such as will be showcased in our column, “Level Up IRL”).

We also get emails asking, “whatever happened to___ (model)?” You will get to read about some of the incredible things our former and

current models have been doing.

Eight years ago, I made a very conscientious choice to uplift spirits, providesafe haven, and create possibilities for girls (now guys too) in the gaming industry.I had Three Rules: No Jerks, No Drama, and Always Be Professional. These tenantsI had Three Rules: No Jerks, No Drama, and Always Be Professional. These tenants

still stand and have brought together some of the finest guys and girls I have ever met.

Each decision at Charisma+2 has been based with some crucial foundational questions in mind. Will this: encourage the hopeless? represent without bias the

strengths of those who apply? instill a strong business ethic that can be carried overinto the workplace after they move on? benefit those less privileged? and make

sound business sense?

In addition, choosing to have strict authentic geek standards, narrowed me to reject In addition, choosing to have strict authentic geek standards, narrowed me to reject non-gamer Playboy and mainstream models who would have brought in significant revenue, but not complied with the other requirements. It may have taken a bit more work to get the agency where I wanted by sticking to my principles, but I do not regret

it because it meant I was able to keep my self integrity and that of my agency.

Going forward in 2015, we look forward to expanding our celebrations of somefabulous geek girls and guys who are friends of Charisma+2 featuring the crafts,

charity work, and echarity work, and excitement of people just like you!

If you are like some gamers out there, the last twoholiday releases may have left a sour taste in yourmouth. Instead of sugarplums, you have been givensoured milk. You waited with excitement and joy for the holiday titles, pre-ordering every single one you could afford, only to find out that once you put it in and turned it on....pooand turned it on....poop. Awfulness. Either it did not operate at all, had horrible mechanics, matchmaking, gameplay, or just seemed unfinished.

Fear not and hold onto those games.

Whether it is the publishers pushing games to bereleased before they are truly ready, or the studiosfor not meeting deadlines with efficiency, or many other reasons we as gamers caother reasons we as gamers can’t see, don’t betempted to sell it for 5% of how much you boughtit for!

Some games, like Diablo 3 for instance, had mightyshoes to fill after Diablo and Diablo 2. Initially manygamers were more than disillusioned. There was utterdismay. Fast forward a spell and Blizzard knockedit out of the park. With updates, it out of the park. With updates, Reaper of Souls, lovers of the IP found themselves ridiculously addicted once again. There is hope. That game you bought last month might yet still be amazing!

That game may seemlike materialized

disappointment now,but hold on!

In the beginning, when he was living with his mom in a 300sq ft place, he admits he was an artist and gamer with a dash of pyromania. He fixed his eyes firmly on his goals, he sold his artwork, even selling his own posessions in order to get a computer to play games. When he got on computer to play games. When he got on that used 286 PC, he absolutely knew that he would have to make art on it. Mind you at this time, in the 90s, the internet was not around offering classes. Allan dived into this endeavor of learning graphics, by immersing himself in every magazine and book he could find.

His first real break came after he was wellreceived but his work was, “not quite good enough” yet to get the job at IRC. This, of course, only motivated Allan more. After working on his portfolio with resolveand tenacity, he applied to the only twoother companies in Brisbanother companies in Brisbane. The internetwas now available, Allan’s abilities onlyskyrocketed. He quickly got two offers!

Long story short, he found himself atAmbience in Sydny but far from LA, his goal.He was told that his integration of live action and CG was rare. He decided to put together a demo of his now over 30 commercials and various projects to

send in to Blizzard and Blur, his top two admired companies in LA. He gotan email from Tim Miller, the founder of Blur directly! Unable to get a work visa at that time, Tim kept his resume. At 21, Allan got a contract to work forDisney having to turn down both the Matrix and Lord of the Rings in orderto keep his professional intergrity and keep his contract. I've been playing AC: Unity, although there are so many great games that have come out that I have yet to get. It's all I've had time for though. I guess I haven't played it enough to experience any of the bugs that people are talking/raging about, so that hasn't been an issue of mine. I really like the new co-op system; it's great! I enjoy the mobile companion app a lot too - it gives me something to do when I'm at school away from the console. I'm also glad they added the new climbing down mechanism, which mamechanism, which makes things much easier than previous installments. Buying new gear with improved stats is a nice addition as well. One problem I have noticed, actually, is a slight lag issue every now and then. So far, nothing to really anger me or outweigh the pros. -Alligirl http://CharismaPlus2.com/Alligirl photo: Matthew Hight

"Sleeping Dogs : Definitive Edition Chinese gangster movies are one of my favorites and was excited to hear that Square Enix had developed a game based on my favorite genre. The game doesn't disappoint with its story line and star-studded cast from both Hong Kong and Hollywood. Although the obvious PS3 graphics makes this look like a last gen game, if you own a PS4, this is a game worth picking up for the storylinpicking up for the storyline, incredible voice acting, and you might even pick up some Cantonese. Best part, all the DLC comes with the game.”- Lily Lu http://CharismaPlus2.com/LilyLu photo Natalie Gee of Mintography

To manufacture beauty we must first understand what it is we find aesthetic - the creation of a modeldoes not start with a crash diet, tons of makeup, or even Photoshop. A model starts with the definition of beauty we individually hold within our hearts. Before a person can become a model they need to find the piece of themselves that they believe find the piece of themselves that they believe makes them beautiful.

I was recently approached by Yvonna and asked to help a newcomer to the Charisma+2 agency to prepare her for her modeling career. After accepting the task, I realized that the first thing I needed to know about Aubrey, the woman in question, was what she loved about her body. I believe that beauty and confidence is something that comes from loving yourself. After a short discussion about the things she found the most pleasing we came up with a game plan to bring those specific traits to the foreground in her interviews and photographs for bring those specific traits to the foreground in her interviews and photographs for potential clients.

She felt her eyes were the most attractive feature on her face; we took that and ran with it. We spent a long night on Skype going over neutral looks that would make her eyes so beautiful that you simply could not look away. We briefly discussed makeup products and brushes that are essential to any new model's kit and the next day she went out to collect the basics.

Our next Skype session was significantly longer and more intense. I discovered that she had minimal experience with makeup application. We discussed proper priming of the face, foundation application, and how to set liquids with powders. I wanted to even out her skin tone and define her facial structure without diminishing her natural beauty. Once we had a solid base to work with, we continued on to eye makeup.

Blonde lashes can disaapear! Brown lashes are great They canoften spotted at cheap wig stores, but sometimes only found online.

Liquid eyeliner is a glorious product that when used correctly can take any look from boring to fabulous. It can also go sideways very quick. Uneven lines and smudging plagues all of us, and can terrify any new user. But Aubrey, being the quick learner she is, picked the skill up with ease and by the end of the night she had applied her eyeliner with precision.night she had applied her eyeliner with precision.

However, posture and heels are crucial for your physical and mental health whenmodeling. To know how to wear heels beautifully, without causing undue stress on your body is key. This was easily my favorite part of working with Aubrey. We sent photos back and forth for hours going overwhy models stand the way they do, why we angle the camera the way we do, and things to avoid. I believe that a woman in the right pair of heels, armed with the knowledge of how to wear them, is an unstoppable forcunstoppable force.

Afterward, we went briefly into posture. Every model over the course of her career will be subjected to long days in heels. That is simply part of the job.

Thanks for reading & Best to you in your makeovers! CharismaPlus2.com/Dani

The Incredible Immaculate Mary

In September we had a quick shout out to one of our greatest and most treasured young ladies, Mary Morgan.

That piece was before we went to the Non-Pareil Institute’s 2014 HolidayGala fundraiser and auction. Yvonna had the honor of being able to go and even sit at the founders’ table. The entire event was moving to say the least.

When Yvonna was audio producer at Lima Audio (now in Los Angeles (EdLima.com) Ed introduced Yvonna to Mary and the encounter at La Madeline was nice yet ever so slightly awkward, which is highly rare for YYvonna. Afterwards, they all went to the studio. Mary stepped into thesound booth and through the mic emerged a confident, angelic voice, asthough someone else had stepped into Mary’s body. Yvonna then knew shejust had to work with this magnificent young lady!

Later, Yvonna learned that Mary was someone with very high functioning asperger’s syndrome. Excited to have heard of NPI, Yvonna told Mary about Non-Pareil Institue, but Mary was not interested. Fast forward a few years, Mary is now part of the Crew at NPI and is making her own game! If you Mary is now part of the Crew at NPI and is making her own game! Page 42: Q1 2015 Charisma+2 Quarterly

I am not a fangirl. By that I mean I don’t just love something because of its franchise affiliation. I tend to judge each game on its own merit, which can sometimes vary drastically withina single IP. Often times this is because once an IP becomes big,the studio will outsource it to smaller or not “A team” quality group or studio. This handing it over happened with one of my favorite titles this holiday season... maybe two games come to favorite titles this holiday season... maybe two games come to think of it. That is for another day. Let’s hop onto Far Cry 4.

Having played and thoroughly enjoyed FarCry3, I tried desperatelyto not get my hopes up too high. Turns out, from the very first opening cut scene,I fell in love/hate with the bad guy, relished the gorgeous sets, loved the gameplay, and enjoyed a balance of voice, sound effects, and music so that I could hear what was going on while enjoying the rest of the audio as well. The narration was top notch, as was the lighting. The game is not 60fps, which I normally find quiteimportant in this geimportant in this gen’s games, but the game is so good, it truly does not matter. Soin short, the controls are smooth, the story is epic, the voice work and atmosphereare fantastic, as is the entire game. It was nice to not be feeling like I had to fightthe game or get the sense that the developers were just being jerks to taunt me. The game is intuitive and feels fast despite it not being 60 fps. Every action feelsnatural, like a solid 39 fps as opposed to other titles that feel like 15.

CharismaPlus2.com/Yvonna

Menus and Maps: Praise the worldwide Ubisoft and the Red Storm studios for one thing: painless, easy to use menus! Everything is right there, plain and simple. One of my biggest pet peeves with any game is the map. FarCry4 nailed it in this arena. There are simple x/y coorindates that are easy to follow and when looking around the environment, the visual cues are super fluid around the environment, the visual cues are super fluid and instincitvely show up right when I begin to think, “where do I go?” Voila, I see the colorful flag banners, aclimb cue, or something indictaing my direction. It also has a Fast Travel that..waitfor it,...does NOT take forever to load! There is also a whirlybird for a direct route.

Weapons: The developers also seemed to have actually held a gun before, which is not always the case with games. When you pick up the gun, the view you get is exactly what it is like to look down the sights, the motion pulling the gun to your face, the animation of the handling, the way your hands look holding the gun, everything is right on target. It also is easy to see what ammo is for what gun. One of the best parts about the gun aspect is they don’t require you to do theimpossible to unlock great weapons either!impossible to unlock great weapons either!

Page 43: Q1 2015 Charisma+2 Quarterly

Animations and Movement: The aimations are fantastic. For instance, if you are pulling yourself up on a rope, your hands follow one another at the same rate as you move up the rope. It is little things like this, that take me out of a game when it is not in sync. Almost always, there is a disconnect, but not in FC4.

One of the most delightful things is that you can play offline. They don’t force youto agree to a dang EULA! They do have Uplay but it is truly not needed to enjoy allof the game thoroughly. I don’t know about you, but I tend to feel resentment to astudio that flashes the Buy This In Game stuff as soon as I turn on the game I just bought for $60. It further miffs me that in order to make the game remotely doableI have to buy the in game things they are offering. No thanks. Maybe I will playit when I have played all the good games and am bored in the summeit when I have played all the good games and am bored in the summer.

TL:DR FarCry4 is a blast. It is solid Yes! It is a BUY!

Skill Trees: For those of you who do not play a great deal of action/adventure orRPG games, skill trees can seem daunting. In FarCry4, the skill trees are supereasy to grasp. What’s more is the game makes you want to level up! There is nota silly, “hey work yourself silly to get 3%better”on a skill. It has things like, unlockthis to press R3 or Rt Thumb to run by a car and instantly kill the driver and passenger! Heck yes I want that! In fact, there are so many great level ups, it is hard to chooshard to choose. That is a nice problem to have.

Audio: Sometimes audio gets overlooked as not that crucial, but man can it kill my game when the ambient sounds or music are overpowered. I have been known to get exasperated like, “ok! I get it, this is a tense moment, now please shut up so I can hear what is going on!”

Other coolness: The auto-driver option is spectacular for those of us who like to play 20+ hours per weekend. These little breaks are nicely timed relaxations for the thumbs. Admittedly the car’s AI is not spectacular. On the other hand there is hardly ever stuff in the road to cause any problem at all. Great Finds: I like to feel rewarded for wandering around the terrain in a gamaround the terrain in a game. It is possible one of the holiday released games was desolate and looked like the publisher was made to send it to market before the team could put anything in the environment. That is not the case here. I could spend days just wandering the set discovering everything from treasures to new animals without ever progressing thestoryline, yet stay satisfied. Alternately, I can blast my way through missions.

Where AreThey Now

featuring

YokoIf you have been a Charisma+2 friend fora while, you may remember Yoko fromher E3 appearance for PDP’s After Glowpromotion. Those girls in the silver and neon lighted outfits made quite theimpression. I remember Candace Miller(who hired them and was herself a C+2(who hired them and was herself a C+2model at one time) said that she, “absolutely LOVED working with Yoko”.

Fast forward a few years and Yoko isgradutaing from the American Film Instiute. This native Minnesotan reachedfor the stars in Los Angeles and hasskyrocskyrocketed after a great deal of toughdetermination and hard work.

Whenever a client asked about Yoko, Yvonna replied that Yoko was “diligent, reliable, and industrious”. When Yoko was working on her own film and called Yvonna requesting talent, a cool full cycle was completcomplete. We look forward to having more projects with her.

Yoko honed her creativity at an arts highschool in Minnesota then went straight to Calarts for college. She then set her eyes on her getting her degree from her dream school AFI. Having worked on several films, the year 2014 was Yoko’s time to shine directing her own film, “Kimi Kabuki”, which happened to be an Dhappened to be an DGA student film award in the Asian American category in Excellence in Directing. The film premiere’s in LA in January 17th! www.kimikabuki.com

You start off in the game being considered as either a heratic or a prophet of Andraste. No matter though, you get to begin yourjourney and hopefully save the world.

main quest which wasn’t apparent until the end of the quest.

The Game offers a whole fleet of side quests, much in the same regards as Skyrim. So much so, I did as many side quests as I could because some trickled down into the

Each area of Fereldan or Orlais has such a vast map in each section of the areas within the country. The dialogue between the characters and the growth of storylines are fantastic. At times you are able to see little nudges toward the earlier games and for me I was able to learn even more of the qunari and the qun codeven more of the qunari and the qun code, which made me super happy!

The fighting in Inquistion has gotten significantly better than in its predecessors. You are able to participate more in battles which is better than the auto fighting that the first DA had. I didnot romance anyone due to the not romance anyone due to the fact that I was a bit of a doucheto all the characters.

Qunari mage aint nothing to mess with! (Sucka) If you are a fan of the Dragon Age series or a first time player you will not be disappointed by the engaging story, addictive game play or the fantastic characters it has, pretty much giving you a major case of the feels depending on how you play. The game also adds on a multiplayer mode. You choose what part you play in the team, team, Rogue, Mage, or Warrior. From what I’ve seen, the best way to go about you multiplayer dungeon crawl is to have everyjob in your party. 1 rogue and 3 mages aren’t the best at killing tanks of doom…..My poor squishy mage…. I knew ye well….

TLDR; Play the game because it’s pretty friggin awesome. Story, Dialogue, and Game play are all A+in my book.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

On the positive side, the single player had fantastic dialogue, story, and voice direction! Another reliably wonderful part is the relationships! Who doesn’t love the progressive and fun romancing in Bioware’s titles.

Sadly though this DA felt like it was not completely ready for being published. Some problems included the horrific jumping mechanics, the atrocious indicator on where to go when sent on a mission (frequentlindicator on where to go when sent on a mission (frequently, the goal appears to be right by the current location but the gamer is required to go a very long distance around mountains of obstacles in order to reach the destination. Too often, time is completely wasted finding out their direction around a big terrain was wrong. Sluggish, unfinished, and poor design made this DA inferior to the excellence one expects from Bioware.

If you’re anticipating the phenomenal MP of Mass Effect 3? Don’t. It is one plane, tight hallways, and not fun. I believe I have become spoiled to expect puretight hallways, and not fun. I believe I have become spoiled to expect pureperfection from the premiere studio. Regardless, I am still ridiculously anxious for their next release!

When an agency is comprised of18-25 year olds, they grow and often getfamilies over the course of 8 years. Manyof the C+2 models are now proud parentsraising their kids as a new gen of gamers.

Another great thing happens thatthe younger gamers now take

for granted. The gamers within the agency become close to each other

and to the other gamers out in the world.

We’d like to take a moment to celebratethe modelthe models’ families & those we’ve grown

to love over the years.
