Pyes Pa School Newsletter
1 June 2017
Tēnā Koutou, Parents, Families and Whanau
Today marks the first day of winter although for many of us the drop in temperature, darker nights
and advent of winter signalled this four weeks ago.
The last fortnight was preceded by our ‘School Working Bee’ on Saturday 20 May. Despite a less
than favourable weather forecast and the inevitable four seasons in one day, we had a great turn
out of people. On behalf of the Board of Trustees of Pyes Pa School I would like to offer a very
sincere and heart felt thank you to those of you who were able to come along. It was a very daunting
prospect that lay ahead but the old adage of many hands make light work made for a very successful
day.
The success of our ‘Working Bee’ laid the platform for an action packed week, which saw students
celebrate the book fair. Students and teachers donned the attire of their favourite book
characters. Students then changed their book character attire for the colour of their house group
as they represented their individual house with pride in the school cross-country. Finally the end
of the working week was celebrated by wearing pink to raise awareness of bullying.
Congratulations to all students on the enthusiasm with which each endeavour was embraced. It is
timely to acknowledge the support of both Ant Pedersen and his team from the Lakes Four Square
who provided finish line support at our cross country and also our ever industrious PTA who
supported with a sausage sizzle and bake sale. To those parents who were able to come and support
on the day, we hope you enjoyed yourselves. We look forward to celebrating our winners’ efforts
when we present certificates at this week’s assembly.
Students can now look forward to the KRSA and Tall Poppies inter-school cross country events.
These events are a great opportunity for students to challenge themselves against a greater pool
of students and also to not only compete but interact with the students of the other participating
schools.
In closing, thank you to those people who continue to support the efforts and endeavours of our
School’s PTA group. To those attending tonight’s movie I look forward to seeing you there. Finally
best wishes for a safe and rewarding long weekend.
