Software Update

This document describes how to update the following application software programs.

PWS-100_Suite: Version 01.41.00.03

MSQ-S321 Firmware: Version 01.33.05.00

PWS Setting Updater: Version 201606

PWSSettingPatcher: Version 1.0.3

Sony Connection Control Manager: Version 1.5.0.12378

Sony Streaming Receiver: Version 1.5.0.12378

Equipment required

A USB mouse

A USB keyboard

A monitor

A USB flash memory (commercially available, 1GB or more recommended)

Required file

Data file for update (Installation Package): PWS-100RX1_V1.5.0.zip


Preparation

1. Connect the mouse and the keyboard to the USB connectors.

2. Connect the monitor to the HDMI connector.

3. Copy the data file “PWS-100RX1_V1.5.0.zip” to the USB flash memory.

4. Connect the USB flash memory to the USB connector on the unit.

5. Copy the data file to the Desktop, unzip “PWS-100RX1_V1.5.0.zip”.

Step 1:Software Version Check


Step 1: Software Version Check before Update

1. Turn on the unit, and sign in to Windows 8.

2. Hold down the [Windows] button and press the [X] key on the keyboard.

3. From the displayed Quick Access menu, select [Programs and Features].

4. On the displayed window, check the version of applications.

Step 2:Update RX1 Applications


1. Open the Install package folder in the USB flash memory.

2. Execute the “ReceiverInstallHelperCCM.exe”.

3. User Account Control dialog box is displayed. Check that “ReceiverInstallHelperCCM.exe” is displayed.

Click [Yes] to start the installation.

4. A command prompt opens and closes during the installation. Wait until the command prompt closes.

Step 2-1: Installing the Sony Connection Control Manager


1. Open the Install package folder in the USB flash memory.

2. Execute the “ReceiverInstallHelperRX.exe”.

3. User Account Control dialog box is displayed. Check that “ReceiverInstallHelperRX.exe” is displayed.

Click [Yes] to start the installation.

4. A command prompt opens and closes during the installation. Wait until the command prompt closes.

1. Turn off the unit.

2. Turn on the unit.

3. Sign in to Windows 8.

Step 2-4: Turn off/on the unit


1. Double Click [Initialization Tool] in the Windows 8 start screen.

2. User Account Control dialog box is displayed. Check that “Initialization Tool” is displayed. Click [Yes].

3. Click [Setting].

4. Click [Next].

5. Click [OK].

1. Double Click [Google Chrome] in the Windows 8 desktop.

2. Open the Clear browsing data dialog (Ctrl+Shift+Delete).

Then, select “the beginning of time” option from the drop-down menu.

Click Clear browsing data.

Step 2-7: Clear browsing data


1. Enter “https://127.0.0.1” in the address field of the browser.

When accessing the CCM UI, an SSL authentication warning message may be displayed.

Click [Advanced] > Click [Proceed to 127.0.0.1] to continue.

Step 2-8: Login to the CCM UI


1. Enter the user name and password to log in. The Home screen of the Connection Control Manager

appears.

2. Click [Settings] in the global menu.

3. Click [CCM] tab.

4. Check [CCM Software Version]. Version 1.5.0 (rev.12378)

5. Click [RX] tab.

6. Select the RX1.

7. Check [Rx Software Version]. Version 1.5.0 (rev.12378)

8. Check [MSQ Firmware Version]. Normal 01.33(05)

Step 3:Installing the PWS Setting Patcher


1. Open the Install package folder.

2. Execute the “PWSSettingPatcharInstaller.exe”.

3. The InstallShield Wizard is started. Click [Next] and then click [Install].

4. User Account Control dialog box is displayed. Click [Yes] to start.

5. Click [Finish].

Appendix A:Windows Update(Important updates only)


Step A-1: Change settings



3. From the displayed Quick Access menu, select [Control Panel].

4. Click [System and Security] > [Windows Update].

5. Click [Let me choose my settings], select as follows, then click [OK].

Important updates: “Never check for updates (not recommended)”

Recommended updates: Uncheck


Step A-2: Check for updates

1. Click [Check for Updates]. Need to wait for a while.

2. Install important updates only. Click [Install updates].

3. Click [Restart now].

1. Double Click [Google Chrome] in the Windows 8 desktop.

2. Open the Clear Browsing Data dialog (Ctrl+Shift+Delete).

Then, select “the beginning of time” option from the drop-down menu.

Click Clear browsing data.

3. Enter “https://127.0.0.1” in the address field of the browser.

4. Enter the user name and password to log in. The Home screen of the Connection Control Manager

appears.

5. Click [Settings] in the global menu.

6. Click [CCM] tab.

7. Check [CCM Software Version]. Version 1.3.0 (rev.8893) or Version 1.4.0 (rev.10207)

8. Click [RX] tab.

9. Select the RX1.

10. Check [Rx Software Version]. Version 1.3.0 (rev.8893) or Version 1.4.0 (rev.10207)


1. Double Click [Initialization Tool] in the Windows 8 start screen.

2. User Account Control dialog box is displayed. Check that “Initialization Tool” is displayed. Click [Yes].

1. Click [Reset].

2. Click [YES].

3. Click [OK].

4. On the [Programs and Features] window, select [PWS-100_Suite] and then click [Uninstall].

5. The InstallShield Wizard is started. Click [Remove].

6. SNMP Service dialog box is displayed. Click [OK] to continue.

7. SNMP PWS-100 Error dialog box is displayed. Click [OK] to continue.

8. When software uninstallation has been completed, click [Finish].

Step B-5: Uninstallation of the PWS-100 Suite


1. Open the Install package folder, unzip “PWS-100_pkg_v01.41.00.03.zip”.

2. Execute the “Setup.exe”.

3. The InstallShield Wizard is started. Click [Install].

4. User Account Control dialog is displayed. Click [Yes] to start the installation.

5. A command prompt opens and closes during the installation. Wait until the installation finishes.

6. After the installation is complete, click [Finish].

4. On the [Programs and Features] window, select [Sony MSQ-S321 PWS-100 PWS-300] and then click

[Uninstall].

5. A dialog box is displayed. Click [Yes] to continue.

6. User Account Control dialog is displayed. Click [Yes] to start the uninstallation.

Step B-7: Uninstallation of the MSQ Firmware



2. Execute the “Sony MSQ-S321 PWS-100 PWS-300_v01.33.05.00.msi”.

3. The InstallShield Wizard is started. Click [Next] and then click [Install].

4. User Account Control dialog is displayed. Click [Yes] to start the installation.

5. If the “Windows Security” dialog box is displayed, click [Install].

6. A command prompt opens and closes during the installation. Wait until the installation finishes.

7. Click [Finish].

8. If the “restart” dialog box is displayed, click [No].

1. Turn off the unit, and remove the power cord.2. Wait for at least 10 seconds, connect the power cord, and then turn on the unit.

3. User Account Control dialog box is displayed. Click [Yes] to start.

4. A command prompt opens.

5. "Succeeded" dialog box is displayed. Click [OK] to finish.
