Your Lifetime Wealth Model

Planning Services• Cash Flow Projection – help clarify what you need to/can afford to save in

order to meet your goals (such as retirement date or post tax income).• Pensions Review – With ongoing reductions in allowances, higher earners

need to review their plans to ensure optimisation.• Retirement Planning – Pensions alone are potentially not enough to cover

all your retirement needs and so a broader plan is required in order to secure a £100,000 retirement income at less than 10% tax.

• Estate Planning – By projecting the future value of your estate you can see what you should be considering in order to efficiently pass wealth onto future generations.

• ‘What If’ scenarios – We can model almost any scenario so that you can test the robustness of your plan or visualise how small changes today can make large difference in future.

Over your career you will likely accumulate numerous pensions, NISAs and other assets all with good reason but perhapswithout a succinct plan holding everything together. By formalising and structuring your financial plan you gain clarity onwhere you are and where you are heading.

This enables you to make financial decisions based on Fact rather than Guesswork.

• With your current circumstances understood andyour plan modelled, you can clearly see how you willmeet your obligations and objectives throughoutyour lifetime (and beyond).

• Combining the factual calculations based on currenttax treatment and your agreed assumptions, generates detailed outputs and clear graphics of howyour wealth will accumulate/drawdown over time.

• You can make it as detail focused as you wish or keep tohigh level outcomes and let us worry about thespecifics.

• At any point you can drill down to the hard numbersbehind the visual graphics and so view your PersonalBalance Sheet, Income/Expenses, or potential Legacy –including Inheritance Tax considerations.

• This can be useful to highlight if there is a need foradditional planning or protection.

PWM Tax Optimisation Strategy

Your financial plan is implemented using the PWM Tax Optimisation Strategy to ensure that you benefit from efficiencies both now and in the future. Only by combining the two aspects can you be sure that the action you are taking today is working towards achieving your long term goals in the most efficient way.

Considerations Include:

• Pensions• NISAs• CGT Managed Portfolios• Investment Bonds• VCT/EIS• Trusts/Offshore Structures• Gift Allowances• Inheritance Planning

• We engage independent analysis, research and due diligence of fund managers and discretionary investment managers on an ongoing basis. This enables us to advise on which top performing managers are best suited to delivering your investment strategy or will blend together to enhance investment implementation.

• Being 100% independent we continue to monitor selected managers against their objectives and their peers. If there is cause or opportunity to consider changing managers, we will not hesitate to discuss the options and our advice.

• Cutting edge technology enables us to pull collate and blend multiple investment managers and structures, so you can easily track your holistic position through our single online portal. This helps you to achieve greater diversification, reduce manager risk, and drive down administration and overall cost of investment.

• Through our manager due diligence we can advise on providers of specialist mandates or investment products as part of your overall investment strategy.

Independent Strategic Investment Advice

Alongside Your Lifetime Wealth Model and Tax Optimisation Strategy we provide independent advice around strategic asset allocation, investment strategy and investment manager selection.

• Bespoke Mandates• Low TER Passive/Tracker Portfolios• Structured Products• Offshore Mandates for Resident Non-Domiciles

• Direct Securities• Aim portfolios (IHT)• VCT/EIS investments• Tier 1 Investor Visa Portfolios

Our belief is that no single investment manager or style will consistently outperform in all market conditions. We use independentanalysis to determine where a particular manager outperforms their peers and then blend managers with varying styles in orderto diversify client’s manager/style risk.

Our independent positioning and ongoing monitoring means that clients are getting an unbiased opinion on how their selectedinvestment managers are performing both in terms of their individual objectives but also against their peers.

Working with Asset Risk Consultants (ARC)• In order to support our leading independent advice to our clients, PWM works with Asset Risk Consultants (ARC) to

independently assess and recommend private client discretionary investment managers (PCDM).• ARC was appointed based on its independent research capability, its vast experience of the PCDM universe, and its unique

peer group analysis which is compiled from real portfolio data contributed by a broad spectrum of leading Private Banks andInvestment Managers.

• ARC is an independent, privately owned consulting practice formed in 1995 to provide research to Family Offices, Trustees,Charities and Wealth Managers.

• The investment managers recommended have been distilled from over 180 firms originally available for consideration andformulated into a preferred manager matrix to highlight areas of expertise.

• This resulting matrix is compiled by ARC based on an agreed and is reviewed and updated on a quarterly basis. There arecurrently 16 core preferred managers offering differing expertise and investment styles.

Discretionary Investment Manager Analysis

Page 11: PWM Overview of Service

Risk: An assessment of the quality and rigour of each manager’s internal riskcontrol processes based both on written due diligence and on-site visits.

Return: Risk-adjusted returns are analysed in absolute terms, versus benchmarkand against peer group. Consistency of performance and approach is alsomeasured.

Realism: A test is undertaken as to whether the performance claimed by amanager is a fair indication of the typical private client experience. In addition, thesustainability of historical performance is considered in the light of investmentphilosophy and process.

Reporting: Investment manager communication with their clients should betimely, transparent, and accurate. This factor considers the quality of periodicreporting, alongside other investment manager communication.

Reputation: Each investment manager’s commitment to private clientdiscretionary investment management is assessed, alongside the stability of theinstitution and its client base.

ARC - Methodology

ARC’s ranking methodology of potential managers is based on seven factors: risk; return; realism; reporting; reputation; remuneration; and resources. Weightings for each factor can be amended to reflect ARC’s, or clients’, views of their relative value.

Remuneration: The comparative level and transparency of fees is considered, including the degree to which manager incentives are aligned with the interests oftheir clients.

Resources: People are the main resource available to investment managers and thisfactor considers the quality, experience and stability of the investmentprofessionals involved in management of discretionary portfolios and clientrelationships.

PWM requested enhanced weighting to the actual Risk and Return experienced by invested clients.

As significant amount of a portfolios long term investment return is related to the amount of Risk taken and the Asset Allocation. We therefore alsooffer clients access to core Model portfolios, that have the Asset Allocation constructed based on Risk parameters.

These portfolios (Tracker, Multi-Manager, or Ethical) are based on Modern Portfolio Theory and have benchmark asset allocations that relate tothe 1-10 risk ratings from the Oxford Risk Tolerance questionnaire, which maps an individuals Risk/Return tolerances. They are implemented usinglong only sector funds or index tracker funds to replicate the asset allocation model.

The Tracker Portfolios are constructed and monitored to track the model asset allocation as close a possible, with the objective to keep costs as lowas possible. The intention when constructing the Multi-Manager portfolios is to put together a range of funds that complement each other, providing portfolios that match the asset allocation and risk parameters indicated in the FW research documents.

The Investment Committee has a number of roles including monitoring of various portfolios and strategic asset allocation models, of various thirdparties such as Towers Watson, Lipper, OBSR, Distribution Technology (DT), AKG, Margetts, Morningstar and other service providers and networks inorder to provide Best of Breed and complete market choice.

Fusion Wealth Model Portfolios

The Independent Investment Adviser (Rayner Spencer Mills - RSM) is responsible for providing much of fund information forthe Multi-Manager portfolios and for the quarterly monitoring and rebalancing of the portfolios. Funds are reviewed on arolling three monthly basis with key risk and return metrics evaluated as well as a range of qualitative issues. Funds are addedor removed based on a set of defined criteria including performance and risk together with a detailed qualitative overlay. Theoutcomes of the regular reviews will form part of the reporting to the investment committee with any issues on the fundsreviewed being raised and debated at the investment committee.

Oxford Risk Tolerance & Consistent Risk Monitoring

The Oxford Risk Questionnaire is designed to asses ones tolerance towards Risk and so map their answers to an appropriate Risk/Asset Allocation. This forms the basis of a more detailed advisor discussion in order to match Risk Tolerance with the Client Objectives.
