Putting Up Your Canvas Bell Tent Step 1 Make sure the area you are looking to use is clear of sharp objects and is on fairly even ground. Please ensure there is plenty of room for the guy ropes to peg out. Step 2 Unpack your bell tent. Lay the groundsheet where you wish the tent to sit. Separate the pegs. Step 3 Unravel the canvas on top of the groundsheet with the door facing the direction that you wish. Step 4 Put your two piece pole together (the top of the pole has a curved edge). Enter the canvas (through the doors) with the pole, ensuring the top of the pole is placed in the centre of the reinforced cap at the top of the tent. Step 5 Lift the canvas with the pole ensuring the tent is still in the correct position. Step 6 Whilst one person holds the centre pole in position with the tent now standing, the second person can start pegging the guy ropes away from the canvas using 12” wooden pegs. The guy ropes should be aligned with the seam for each panel of the tent. We suggest to peg out two guy ropes at the front of the tent (avoiding the door guy ropes) and two guy ropes at the back of the tent. Once this is done, the tent should now be standing alone. Step 7 Avoiding the door guy ropes, peg out the rest of the guy ropes (using 12” wooden pegs ) ensuring that they are an even distance away from each other. Please DO NOT pull the guy ropes too tight to start with or you may pull the centre pole over. Then adjust your groundsheet to fit the tent. Step 8 Use the 9” wooden pegs to peg out the walls all the way around the tent. Step 9 Now peg your groundsheet into the ground ensuring that the hessian cloth sits under the groundsheet and peg through this too. You can now peg out the door guy ropes. Step 10 Now it is the time to finish off tightening your guy ropes. Please note you may need to make some slight adjustments to tighten the tent up using the guy ropes. Obviously you want your bell tent to look perfect! Step 11 Now your tent is erect and in place, Dutch lace your doors closed (this may involve the two door guy ropes being loosened before you do this). Hook the front walls up to the inside of the roof with the loops provided. Step 12 If you are lucky enough to have some hot weather, you may like to roll the side walls of your canvas bell tent up. This will allow natural light and air into your bell tent. To do this remove your 9” pegs from the walls and groundsheet. Roll the walls up and then tie them up using the provided ties. Thank you for purchasing your bell tent from Canvas Tent Shop. We recommend two people erect your Canvas Bell Tent. If You Have a Nomad Bell Tent Please Turn Over...

Putting Up Your Nomad Bell TentIf you have a Nomad Bell Tent please follow the instructions for the Bell Tent and then follow these steps.(PLEASE NOTE THE NOMAD COMES COMPLETE WITH ONLY METAL PEGS).

Step 1 Using the 4ft 10” pole, place the spike into the hole of the canvas at the front of the porch. Stand the pole up, your porch should now be standing.

Step 2 Peg out the two way guy ropes coming from the pole.

Step 3 You should now be able to zip up the front of your tent closed.

Now you can relax and enjoy your bell tent experience!

Please note this is our preferred way of putting up one of our canvas bell tents. There are other ways of doing so; however we find this the quickest and easiest way. Once you have put your bell tent up you may find your own way of doing so.

Pulling Down and Packing Away Your Bell Tent Please ensure your canvas is completely dry before carrying out the following steps.

Step 1 Take out your 9” wooden pegs from around the bottom of the walls.

Step 2 Then remove your 9” wire pegs from your groundsheet.

Step 3 Whilst one person is holding the pole. The other person is to fully loosen all the guy ropes.

Step 4 The person now holding the pole should be able to walk the pole out the door allowing the canvas to fall to the ground.

Step 5 Remove all the 12” wooden pegs from the guy ropes.

Step 6 Lay the canvas out on the floor and fold your tent up as tightly as possible.

Step 7 Fold your ground sheet and place on top of the tent in the bag.

Step 8 Collect up all your wooden and wire pegs and place in your peg bag.

Step 9 Make sure you have all of your components and leave nothing behind.

Protection In Wet WeatherOur bell tents are water repellent. However rain causes tent canvas and guy ropes to shrink. If left unchecked the shrinkage often becomes sufficient to tear the tent. If you are experiencing wet weather, loosen the guy ropes slightly, to compensate for shrinkage. Please ensure that your tent is always packed away completely dry. Your tent is rot proof, however black mildew or mould will form if packed away wet or even damp.

If in any circumstances the tent needs to be packed away damp/wet, in order to return you tent to storage. It is vital that it is unpacked and dried out at the earliest opportunity.
