Public Outreach

• During construction the MTA will maintain responsibility for communication and coordination with property owners, residents, business owners/operators and other stakeholders

• Liaisons will: be located in project offices in the corridor alert the community to upcoming construction

activities serve as direct points of contact for the community bring the right staff to the table to problem solve

Purple Line Community Advisory Boards • New community meeting format developed in

consultation with Counties

• Structure based on geographic location and a similar set of concerns

• Composed of representatives of the community/ civic associations, businesses and other stakeholder groups

• “Work around the table” format, so need to keep the groups small

PL Community Advisory Boards

16-mile Purple Line Corridor has been divided into eight Community Advisory Board areas. The following areas cover Montgomery County: 1) Bethesda/Chevy Chase: Bethesda to Rock Creek Park

2) Greater Lyttonsville/Woodside: Rock Creek to Woodside Station

3) Silver Spring: Spring St. to Wayne Avenue to Manchester Place Station

4) Long Branch: Plymouth Tunnel to Piney Branch Road and University Boulevard

5) University Boulevard: Piney Branch Road to Adelphi Road

PL Community Advisory Boards

• Existing PL Outreach team, Concessionaire outreach staff and appropriate technical support staff will be part of team working to address concerns

• County and P&P staff will participate

• Members will be selected by the groups they represent

• At-large members from corridor-wide groups

• The general public will be welcome to attend, but we will ask them to observe, and their comments and questions will be addressed at the end of the meeting

• Promote two-way information sharing between MTA/Concessionaire and community

• Offer a forum for residents, business groups and community stakeholders to engage in open dialogue with decision-makers from MTA /Concessionaire team

• Serve as an organized, results-oriented vehicle for identifying and addressing area-specific issues and concerns related to MTA’s Purple Line

• Provide accountability for follow-up actions agreed upon by MTA/Concessionaire and community

• Purple Planet characters teach kids about the Purple Line and transit safety

• Social Media Platforms where Millennials tend to be high users

• Outreach events geared towards youth and young adults such as UMD Farmers Market and National Night Out

• Contains history, news, maps, outreach efforts, meeting notices & presentation materials and other relevant information about the project

• “Environmental Compliance Dashboard” to track environmental commitments
