GET STARTED WITH
MINDMEISTER
MindMeister is an online tool for ”mindmapping”. Students and teachers at CBS have access to use MindMeister to create and
share a map for collaboration, e.g. for brainstorming or for building up knowledge.
1 Go to mindmeister.com and click at ”log ind”
2 Click on ‘flere tjenester” and then select ”Log ind med Office365”. Use your CBS credentials.
3 Write your email (use your CBS credentials) and click on ”næste”
4 Write your password (use your CBS credentials) and click on ”log på”
5 First time you log in to MindMeister you will be asked to accept conditions. Click on ”Acceptér”
button.
6 Select the ”Jeg accepterer brugsbetingelserne og privatlivspolitiken” and click then on ”Fortsæt”
button. This is only for the first time you log in.
7 Now you can create your own maps. Click on the ”+” to start a new map
8 Highlight the text in the box in the center and write your own text.
E.g. Write a question/task for students to give their input to. The map are auto-saved.
9 Change background colour, shape and font colour in the box. Select ”text” or ”background”
10 Click on the main box and then double-click on the map if you want to start a new box for a topic related
to main box. Or you can instead click on the +icon or use TAB button. Start writing in the new box.
11 Insert a textbox to a textbox. Select the textbox and click on”tab” button on your computer. Write
the text in the new box.
12 You can make relations between two boxes. Click on the icon for ”add relationship”.
13 The relation arrow can be dragged around with the mouse and related to another box to show
relationship.
14 Play with the colours and do advanced layout. Select ”Customise” for more options.
15 Share your mindmap with a link to others or embed in Canvas.
16 Select the box ”Link to Share” and click on ”Copy Link”. Send the link by email or insert in a Canvas
page. You can find more options in ”sharing settings”.
17 Click on ”sharing settings” to open the menu.
18 You can edit the settings. Also you can get the embed code to embed the map into a page in
Canvas. Click on ”Embed map”. Then click on ”Done”.
19 Select ”Enable live updating”. Set the frame width and height to 1200 and 800. Highlight the iframe
embed code and copy with ctrl + C (or right click on mouse). Click on ”Close”.
20 In Canvas, you can embed the mindmap in a page. Students can access from a link on the map to
Mindmeister, where they can do the inputs on the map.
21 Click on ”Edit” on the Page and this editor will open. Select the ”insert media”icon to be able to
paste the embed code you have copied from the mindmeister map.
22 Select the ”Embed” tab and paste the embed code. Click on ”OK”.
23 The mind map will appear on the page. Remember to save the page. Students and teachers can
access the mindmeister map from the link (see picture) and can then do inputs and editing map.
Congratulations! You have now created a mindmap in Mindmeister
