PUBLISHED IN THE GAZETTE OF INDIA, PART II, SECTION 41 GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF DEFENCE NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 2018 SRO In exercise of the powers conferred by the provision to article 309 of the constitution, and in suppression of the Military Engineer Services (Non-Industrial, Class-Ill) Recruitment Rules, 2008, in so for as they relate to the post of Civilian Motor Driver (Special Grade) except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the President hereby makes the following rules regulating the method of recruitment to the post of Civilian Motor Driver in the Military Engineer Services, namely:- 1. Short title and commencement: - (1) These rules may be called the Military Engineer Services (Civilian Motor Driver) Recruitment Rules, 2018. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Disqualification: - No person,- (a) Who have entered into or contracted a marriage with a person having a spouse living, or (b) Who, having a spouse living, has entered into or contracted a marriage with any person, shall be eligible for appointment to any said posts. Provided that the Central Government may, if satisfied that such marriage is permissible under the personal law applicable to such person and other party to the marriage and that there are other grounds for so doing, exempt any person from the operation of the rule. 6. Power to relax:- Where the Central Government is of opinion that it is necessary or expedient so to do, it may by order, and for reasons to be recorded in writing, relax any of the provisions of these rules with respect to any class or category of persons. 7. Savings: - Nothing in these rules shall affect reservations, relaxation of age limit and other concessions required to be provided for Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, the Other Backward Classes, Ex-servicemen and other special categories of persons, in accordance with the orders issued by the Central Government from time to this regard.

1. Short title and commencement: - (1) These rules may be called the Military Engineer Services (Civilian Motor Driver) Recruitment Rules, 2018.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. Application: - These rules shall apply to the post specified in Column 1 of the Schedule annexed to these rules.

3. Number of Posts, classification and level in the pay matrix: - The number of said posts, their classification and level in the pay matrix attached thereto shall be as specified in Column 2 to 4 of the Schedule attached to these rules.

4. Method of Recruitment, age limit and other qualification etc: - The method of recruitment, age limit, qualification and other matters relating to the said posts shall be as specified in Column 5 to 13 of the Schedule aforesaid.

5. Disqualification: - No person,- (a) Who have entered into or contracted a marriage with a person having a spouse living, or (b) Who, having a spouse living, has entered into or contracted a marriage with any person, shall be eligible for appointment to any said posts.

Provided that the Central Government may, if satisfied that such marriage is permissible under the personal law applicable to such person and other party to the marriage and that there are other grounds for so doing, exempt any person from the operation of the rule.

6. Power to relax:- Where the Central Government is of opinion that it is necessary or expedient so to do, it may by order, and for reasons to be recorded in writing, relax any of the provisions of these rules with respect to any class or category of persons.

7. The upper age limit is relaxable for Government servant, Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Class and certain other categories in accordance with the instructions or orders issued by the Central Government from time to time.

Note 1: The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the closing date for receipt of applications from candidates in India (and not the closing date prescribed for those in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of Jammu and

7 (i)Passed 10th standard/class

(ii) Should possess valid Civil Driving License (HMV) for all type of vehicle from state Government. (iii) Driving test will be conducted by the Department to assess the suitability for driving the vehicle.

The MTS / Group 'C' employees on regular basis in Pay Matrix Level — 1 in the other Ministries of Central Government who fulfill the necessary qualifications as mentioned in Column 07.

Note: An accurate assessment of vacancies to be filled by the method of absorption shall be worked out and circulated to all departments under the Ministry and should invariably be published in "Employment News" and most of Regional News Papers. The minimum time allowed for receipt of application on a prescribed format (on the basis of DoP&T/ SSC format) should be one month. Age for absorption shall be not exceeding 40 yrs for Gen Candidate and 45 yrs for SC/ST Candidates.
