Duration of Postgraduate medical training is from 4-6 yrs, depending o specialty

Resident has a main tutor for the whole training period

On different wards, he has a trainer

National examination

Resident is fully paid by the state-he has to work in public service for 4-6 yrs

has to refund/pay back the cost of the training except salary

The scholarship fees for such a self-paid training are as follows:

3.668,76 EUR /year - (costs for tutor, trainer and administrative Fee to Medical Chamber)

3.900,00 EUR /year - 20 modules for PGT in Family Medicine

1.612,80 EUR - final examination/specialist exam

additional expenses for mandatory educational courses (differ from specialty to specialty)

Competence based training

Every physician, that wants to practice medical profession in Slovenia, has to:

1. have the appropriate qualifications and level of training

2. be entered in the register of physicians (MCS)

3. hold a license to independently perform medical services in a specific field of expertise (hereinafter: license)
