Welcome!To our guests,

On behalf of the entire Amazon Web Services (AWS) Worldwide Public Sector team, welcome to the 2019 AWS Public Sector Summit in Washington, DC! This year’s conference is going to be our biggest yet with more than 13,000 attendees and 160 knowledge sessions.

To get the most out of the Public Sector Summit, we encourage you to take advantage of the resources outlined in this document. You can start planning your schedule at any time by logging into your account, visiting the session catalog, and marking sessions of interest.

Although the AWS Public Sector Summit DC is a big conference, the strength of the public sector community makes it feel much smaller.

We look forward to seeing you in Washington, DC!

Silent Disco Sessions

© 2019 | Amazon Web Services. All rights reserved.

Silent Disco Sessions are a new format this year at the DC Summit. In the Ballroom on Level 3, five breakout sessions will be running simultaneously across five different stagesthroughout the main conference days. Unlike regular breakout sessions, the microphones do not project, but rather feed into headphones that line the corresponding seats in front of each session’s stage.

Just like an actual silent disco, you can tune into the speaker by selecting one of the provided headphones. Stages are lit up in different colors, which correspond to the signage, the headphones, and the mobile app. Check out this new format onsite and let us know what you think in the mobile app survey!

FEATURED SPEAKERS: John Ellis, Deputy CIO, Emory University

In this session, hear from Emory University as they walk through best practices for organizational development, in preparation for a large scale cloud migration. John Ellis, PhD and Deputy CIO will detail a unique migration strategy consisting of two implementation teams. The first team utilized a separate team approach to develop a secure framework that our researchers use for AWS, while the second team leveraged existing methodologies coupled with the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework, to work through migration readiness and planning for our data center migrations. In this session we will share our lessons learned along the way and discuss the advantages/disadvantages of both approaches.Link to session
