DOWSETT HIGHLANDS RELIEF SEWER PROJECTS

INTRODUCTION

This bulletin is published to the project website

(www.palisewer.org) monthly to keep the community

informed about construction work associated with the

Dowsett Highlands Relief Sewer Projects. The

contract Notice-To-Proceed was issued to Kiewit

Infrastructure West Co. (KIWC) on June 7, 2018.

Heavy construction is scheduled to continue through

the summer of 2020. Refer to the attached maps and

visit the project website for more detailed information

about this project. To request hard copies of the

UPDATES FOR ONGOING ACTIVITIES

KIWC performed the following work in January:

School Street between Nuuanu Ave. & Waikahalulu

Ln. (near H-1 off-ramp)

• Construction of a sewer manhole vault at the

intersection of Nuuanu Ave.

• Installation of new sewer pipelines and manholes,

including trench excavation and trench restoration,

near the School St. and Nuuanu Ave. intersection.

Nuuanu Ave. between School St. & Wyllie St.

• Construction and finishing of the interiors of

manholes at various locations between School St.

and Wyllie St.

Pali Hwy. between Wyllie St. & Dowsett Ave.

• Restoration of underground utilities at various

locations between Ahi Pl. and Ahipuu St.

• Installation of new sewer pipelines by guided bore

methods between Country Club Rd. and Dowsett

Ave.; and installation of new sewer pipelines by

open excavation, including trench restoration,

between Ahipuu St. and Country Club Rd.

• Installation of new sewer manholes and restoration

of shafts between Ahipuu St. and Country Club Rd.

FEBRUARY FORECAST OF ACTIVITIES

The following activities are scheduled to continue

and/or begin in February. The approximate locations

and work hours for these activities are shown on the

attached maps.

• Installation of new sewer pipelines, including

methods between Country Club Rd. and Dowsett

TRAFFIC UPDATES FOR FEBRUARY

Daytime construction work will require relatively

isolated lane closures at several locations on School

St., Nuuanu Ave., Wyllie St., Pali Hwy., Dowsett

Ave., and Nuuanu Pali Dr. Work on Pali Hwy. will

involve temporary closure of travel lanes during

work hours. Detours will be involved with various

work locations on Pali Highway and Dowsett

Avenue; see below for the associated traffic detours.

Access to driveways will be maintained via right

turn motions from the open travel lanes fronting

them; however, access to some driveways via left

turn motions may not be available due to required

traffic control configurations. Please observe the

posted construction traffic signage. Thank you for

your patience!

• Traffic Detour for Work on Dowsett Ave. from

Lower Pali Hwy. Intersection to Pelekane Dr. 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Saturday During work hours, the lower section of Dowsett

Ave. will be closed to all traffic between Pali

Hwy. and Pelekane Dr., with access into this

segment open to LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY.

Drivers affected by this detour will be detoured

via Alika Ave. and Wood St.

KIWC has a 24-hr, 7 days a week, continuous

work staging area set up within the Pali Hwy.

closed during work in the town bound lanes near

the intersection. Drivers affected by this closure
