San Felipe’s Beautiful Beaches!

San Felipe is a little town right in the middle coast of Baja California (B.C.) well

known for its Easter vacation attractions and its ATV rides in the dunes, but, is that all

there is to this little town? Today we’ll look at the many activities and places that can be

visited in this marvelous town.

If you want to visit a good beach in San Felipe, DO NOT go to “El Malecon” for a

day at the beach, people get a wrong idea of the town thanks to this beach, if you

want to have a fun, nice day getting a tan or bathing in salt water, follow the next

instruction:

-Go about five miles more to the

south through the airport road,

this way you will find somewhat

solitary beaches that are more

quiet but nice to have a good

day taking a tan of having some

fun in the water

-If you are looking to have more

contact with people, you can go

to any resort (that allows a free

entrance) that has beach and

have a good day with foreign

people and maybe even have a

beach volleyball day.

-A fun thing you can do at the beach is to get on a “Banana” boat, usually a rough

but FUN activity where the point is to last as long as you can on the boat while the

driver tries to throw you to the sea.

After such an active day, you should really start getting hungry, so where could you

go to have a nice meal?

-La Cabaña: A nice homemade taste restaurant where there specialty goes from

“Puntas al Albañil” to the delicious “Green Burrito” which is made of pork meat,

Jack cheese, and green salsa.

-Red Lobster: If you crave for some Italian seasoning, THIS is the place, well

known for its Italian cooking, the Red Lobster has a good variation of food, but its

pastas, lasagnas and meat are off the charts to what Italian cooking is.

-San Felipe is a good place for sea food, but you have to go to the right place to

really taste the sea, there are various good places, but there are 2 that are better

than most, “Sammy’s” and “La Palapa Restaurant (El Dorado Ranch)”

Now that you are full, you want to get a good night sleep, where you sleep

depends on your budget.

-El Dorado Ranch: This place isn’t an hotel, it’s a resort with condos, high prices

come with great commodity near the beach and with the good ol’ “Palapa” near the

pool place.

-Costa Azul: Big hotel with a Malecon beach view, perfect to partiers who don’t

want to drive and want to party all night.

-Cortez Hotel: Great hotel with a perfect location in general, not too far from the

malecon, in front of the beach, and the dunes on the back.

Now that you know where to go and what to do in San Felipe, come know it by

yourself and live the lovely experience of a great vacation at a “Baja Paradise”, you

won’t regret it.

Interview to a fantastic brazilian girl

Hi Fernanda, thank you for give me the pleause to have an interview with you.

F: You’re welcome!

1.- How do you feel here in Mexico?

F: Very good, I’m so happy and so glad I feel like home.

2.- Why did you came here to Mexico?

F: Because I wanted to perfect my spanish, for the culture and to know the contrast between

Mexico and Brazil.

3.- What did you think about Mexico before you came?

F: That they were all around the street dressed like mariachis, a big hat and a mustache and eat

chile all the time.

4.- Did you make a lot of friends?

F: Yeah, so much friends.

5.- Had you visited some turistic places?

F: Yes, a lot.

6.- What places you liked more?

La Bufadora, Las Vegas, San Felipe and Soak

City.

7.- Do you miss your real parents and friends

from Brazil?

Yes, but eventually you get used.

8.- Do you talk with them often?

Yes, everyday by Facebook.

9.-What did you like the most of Mexico?

The food, tacos, Mexicali and the school.

10.- Would you come again to Mexicali?

Of course, I would came here to Mexicail again.

The Day that Mexicali Shook for CETYS students

On April 4th, 2010 around 3:30 p.m., Mexicali was having the most terrifying moment in

the last 20 years; an earthquake of 7.2 degrees on the Richter scale was shaking the

city. This natural disaster brought many houses and buildings destroyed and left the city

without electricity and water for more than 12 hours. In CETYS Universidad, the

earthquake left with extensive damages the highschool and professional buildings. The

students had to take their classes in mobile classrooms.

Now, in CETYS Universidad the professional building is being built with many upgrades

and more space than the last and of course, best anti earthquakes foundation.

COMIC OF THE DAY!

What is up with The Bats?

During the last years, we’ve been receiving a lot of Batman activity, these have been

containing a whole lot of action, suspense, and other stuff, but the most recent of the

has gone over the top.

The Dark Knight Rises is a huge thriller ride, the movie contains most of the things you

have to know about some of the saga’s favorite characters, including new info on

Batman and one of the favorite villains, the all mighty BANE.

During the start of the film, the first thing we receive is a huge punch of action, hitting us

in the face, this gets us excited to what we might see in the rest of the movie, of course

we find ourselves with a highly creative and exciting movie, during the hole movie, you

have and adrenaline rush and you are tense about just might happen next, of course

having us glued to our seat to not miss a single part of the movie.

I can’t explain how much more exciting the movie is without giving out parts of the film,

so instead of spoiling the movie, just go watch it, you will not regret THE DARK KNIGHT

RISES.

Know about the Idols!

MARTIN LUTHER KING

Martin Luther King was born in Atlanta in 1929, was an American Baptist minister and a

civil rights defensor. From a young age he became aware of the social and racial

discrimination suffered by black people in his country, especially in the southern states.

When he became a Baptist minister, took charge of a church in Montgomery, Alabama

and showed people about their interest in their rights and good charisma, relying on the

thought of Mahatma Gandhi.

His fame extended so fast in all around the country and next he became the director of

the American pacifist movement, first through the Southern Christian Leadership

Conference and later the Congress of Racial Equality.

While the years were passing by, he began a huge movement to defend the black

people’s rights, sometimes he were jailed but he counted with the help of John F.

Kennedy, the U.S President of that time.

He died defending, as always, the civil rights of black people, his death became an

incident that caused so much controversy in all the country of United States because he

was a hero and protector of the people.

Interview with an Artist!

1. Since when do you draw?

Since I was like 6 years old

2. At this moment which is your best drawing?

I have the best drawing right now and I am trying to refine it

every time I draw

3. What kind of drawings do you create?

Characters of series, actors, models, and others

4. Have you try to sell your drawings?

Not yet. I want to learn more about it and then sell them

5. What kind of materials do you need to draw?

Just a pencil, an eraser and a sharpener, that’s it

6. Which kind of technique do you use to do your drawings?

Pencil, just pencil, I don’t know how to paint in acrylic yet

7. What do you need to get inspired?

Music and free time

8. Do your drawings have a story behind them?

Not exactly, a character from a movie that I draw has already one, and it is not

necessary to create them one

9. Would you like to teach persons about draw?

Not yet, because I don’t have a perfect draw yet

10. What would you like to tell to those people that doesn’t know how to draw?

Yes, that they can draw anything in any form, it’s their drawings, only that they

will give them a sense that becomes them unique.

Learn from others

Sometimes you have to make decisions

that can change the life that you had

made. These happened to my uncle; I

was there when the accident happened.

The event happened 2 years ago, me

and my family were going to Sinaloa to

visit my uncles, it was starting spring

time, but in Sinaloa was like hell. We

were having so much fun; my cousin’s, my aunt and me were going on shopping,

doing disaster on the private beach that my family has, etc., however, one day my

aunt and me went to the beach to clean it and to have some time alone, but what

happened next I never expected to see it; a truck with some men were shooting

on the beach to one person that was running, we ran away to our car but the

person that was persecuting crashed with my aunt, causing that both fell down,

the people on the truck didn’t care about that and shot to my aunt and the man; I

was on the car when that happened, I saw it, I was on shock but immediately

called my parents. We took my aunt to a hospital and the doctor said that they

could save her with a heart transplant, however the only one compatible to her

was my uncle, so he decided to do it because my aunt was all for him, he could

do anything for her just to be safe and alive. Days later my aunt was better

nevertheless asking for my uncle, so we didn’t have other choice but telling her

how she was alive, she cried because of the action of my uncle but she

understood it. I won’t forget those days, the last year we went to his tomb to do a

commemoration for him. If you want to know what happened to those guys on the

beach, the police caught them and they still are in prison.

Liberty and responsibility

Does cost to have freedom?, Do we need to have people responsible for your actions?,

Do we need to be aware to develop responsibility?, All these questions can be

answered with something very simple and human reasoning, people believe you do not

need to think or reason things that might happen at some point in life, you always have

to see what might happen, use logic to not cause accidents due to lack of awareness or

responsibility. If we answer the first question, since we are born we are given freedom,

it's free to have it, but the same way we have it for free, can be taken away from our

lives. Freedom is marked to never be entirely sure what is going to happen and also

responsibility comes very hand to this, and to be responsible is to be able to account for

what has been done, assuming the problem for you himself, without help from someone

else, what would happen if you did to help, would succeed not develop that part of the

responsibility, not serious conscious of your actions, you could not face the real world

without the ability to think for yourself, accept that missed an opportunity to do what you

want why not solved the act committed.

A philosopher once said that "No one can be happy if you can see himself" (Rousseau,

2004), in my opinion is quite right, I chose this sentence because the subject is closely

related to freedom and responsibility, you can’t be happy unless you are free, if you do

not act responsibly, if you do not think things through before acting, because everything

that influences, so follow the phrase that he says, Appreciate and can achieve anything

you want in life. Another phrase that explains the subject are "The price of greatness is

responsibility" (Winston Churchill, 2006), the phrase describes good the point of the

topic, because there are many riches in the world that can cause bad or for example are

inequities, private property is what fosters this other than greed and other emotions that

are negative, but might also allow the development of each person's independence,

autonomy, and other aspects.

Similarly, the sentence says that the price of greatness is responsibility, true, so we

must account for all as we cause any harm or damage to be large, we revere, we take

into account as people who do takes action on the bad and just as well, because the

more that sometimes accept those problems or not, you will become more venerable,

have more right to be free, you will be happier and more aware of the events you can

cause

There are several solutions to not cause more war, more acts where most people do not

become aware of what it does, and just as the others do, these solutions have many

versions that people can hear, for example should have an army that is professional,

experienced, not that this military service comprised of young people, who are just

beginners, then another that is mentioned is to support international authorities like the

ONU to support as appropriate; give a good economic, political, and educational, etc..;

Well to finish what we should do in the world, is to present these issues to common

situations such as auto accidents by alcoholization not more frequently than in the

society, or that people may not be as liar himself and other people, also explain to you

face a person who does not follow his conscience, telling you to do well and that was

done wrong, we implement this and the world will never be unhappy, and not be a slave

to false hopes.

LITERARY CRITICISM:

Today: Nephilim “The Breaking Dawn Kiss” by Leah Cohn

The book "Nephilim" is about a girl of 10 years, which is excellent in the study of the

violin and has a voice that haunting apart, she called Sophie and lives in Austria,

traveling through Germany once she was found with a famous violinist named Nathanel,

immediately fell in love with him, it was love at first sight. Following on from that day I

never stop thinking about Nathanel and 15 years later his violin and singing teacher told

him he was going to tow with German orchestra, then reconnects with Nathanel and

decided to speak for the first time, then there was always the day that came out for a

drink or talk, so fell in love a few years later had a daughter not married, she was

named Aurora after Sophie and yet knew nothing of Nathanel; slowly time passes

Sophie realizes that her daughter is different and when they turn seven years his doubts

are resolved and apart from that specific day in the life of Aurora both like the change

because it turns out Sophie Aurora is an immortal, something like an angel. Sophie

feels that with this new journey will return to meet Nathanel and perhaps never see

sunlight.

What the author meant, so that means the book is the typical moral "love has no

boundaries if you so desire," this relates much to the story because the protagonist

does not know what may give fate, she senses that will be reunited with his first love but

also can’t get back to see the light of day to be in search of that first love and the

answers to the strange events that happen to her and her daughter. another point of

view which likewise can deduce what the author states in the book is that humans can

come to have a very mysterious nature, because although the book is of such fanciful

ideas that perhaps between we live people like Aurora, are very questionable, because

this Christian people clearly believe in everything that relates to "heaven" as the angels

and said that Catholics do not believe, if not that Catholics do not at too credible,

because of course there are more religions that some do not even believe in God, but it

is undisputed that now, the point I want to make is that we are beings with many secrets

and too much skills and capabilities not discover yet, so my review of this book is very

good, I highly recommend reading it because it makes you think a lot about what

happens in the story and in daily life, also yes you have good taste for reading,

especially love, Nephilim appropriate, and also excellent reading for those who are

lovers of mystery. This concludes that the book no longer fit into the typical themes of

the current narrative stories because apparently already has a higher level, when it

comes to the attention of readers and of course in the subject.

The Boston Marathon explosion

With thousands of runners still on the course of the yearly Boston marathon, two bombs

exploded at the side lines near de finish line of the marathon... The bombs killed three

people and injured at least 113 people and turned the city most celebrated and

anticipated event into a spectacle full of shattered glass, blood and scream..

President Barack Obama said authorities did not know who was responsible for the

attacked but promises to enforce “the full weight of justice” against those responsible of

this massacre. After he said these the law enforcement officials said that that a kid who

was only 8 years old was one of the dead

Video from the scene showed two blasts about 20 seconds apart just off the course at

the finish. White smoke rose, barriers flew, and people who had gathered to cheer the

runners turned and fled in terror. They later reported seeing horrific injuries that included

blown-off limbs and bodies thrown to the asphalt.

1. When do you enter Cetys’ singing lessons?

One year ago

2. What was your reason to enter the singing lessons?

Because since I heard of it, I thought it was going to be a great thing to do, and

that I would have fun and sing more openly and better

3. Did you have any previous experience in singing before the lessons?

I just signed by my own, I’ve never had singing lessons before

4. What do you prefer: Singing in group or solo?

Solo

5. Do you consider singing as a hobby?

I like to think about it more like a lifestyle

6. Do you like the lessons?

Yes, a lot.

7. Does your teacher meet your expectations?

Yes, even better than I expected

8. What kind of activities would you like to do more?

I would like to learn how to control better my voice and reach higher and lower

notes

9. How do you feel about representing Cetys at events?

I feel very proud every time my teacher chooses me to do it, and I try to sing with

all my heart and passion.

More Rings?!

The Hobbit, in my opinion, it’s a very good movie, because, combines a legendary story

about war (Lord of The Rings) in a different world and a little bit of humor.

The movie duration it is about 2 hours and 45 minutes; a lot of time to enjoy that

spectacular movie.

The main story is about Bilbo Baggins, a Shire Hobbit. Talks about how Bilbo decided to

start his adventure journey with the little men. The objective of that trip, was to recover

the castle that was in hands of a dragon.

It’s a very long story that describes each part of the past of Bilbo. One of the main

characters appeared again: Gollum. In the movie you can see how Bilbo and Gollum

met each other.

Fast Food

In 1970, Americans spent about $6 billion on fast food; in 2000, they spent more than

$110 billion. These statistics show how Americans become lazier year by year and

prefer eating fast food than cooking a healthy meal. But also companies have helped by

selling a complete, low quality food for a very low price. Although in the two articles “its

portion distortion that makes America fat” by Sunlee Brown and “if you pitch it they will

eat it” by David Barboza focuses on the negative effects of too much fast food, they

blame different parties.

The most important similarity between the two articles is in both the fast food companies

deny that they are to be blamed for America’s obesity. In the article “its portion distortion

that makes America fat”, Sunlee Brown states that McDonalds used to be a treat, not a

daily basis meal. “Readers of a certain age can remember a time when a trip to

McDonalds seemed like a treat and when a small bag of French fries, a plain burger

and a 12 oz. coke seemed like a full meal. By saying this, the author is trying to depict

how people nowadays think a “normal” size of a burger and French fries is a large coke,

fries and double burgers.

Likewise David Barboza in the article “it you pitch it they will eat it” emphasizes that

advertisements play a big role on giving the Americans the roly poly shape they have

gain. “the increase in food marketing to children has closely tacked their increase in

weight. Since 1980, the number of obese children has more than doubled to sixteen

percent.” The author acknowledges his concern about how we are increasingly adapting

our meals to just fast food and it is making us gain so much weight; that in turn is

threatening our lives. So both coincide with the idea that fast food is the one to be

blamed for making America fat whether by the size portions or the marketing strategies

they are using for targeting especially young adults and children.

The main difference between the two articles is the article “if you pitch it they will eat it”

explains how advertising persuades and makes them crave for fast food. The marketing

and advertisement companies have remarkable ads which make it easier for people to

remember faces, songs or characters. “Big food makers like McDonalds and Kraft foods

Inc. are finding every imaginable way to put their names in front of children. And they’re

spending more than ever $15 billion last year, compared with $12.5 billion in

1998,according to research conducted at Texas a&m university in college station”.

Although companies know that their advertisements pitches threatening ways to feed

yourself, but they only do it for the money not for you to choose healthy meals. In

contrast, the article “ portion distortion is what makes America fat”, focuses more on

how the size portions of fast food has changed nowadays, and people are getting used

to eat more and more because as a part of a strategy fast food companies offer this

gargantuan meals for a very low price.

In conclusion, both articles deny they are the ones to be blamed for giving the

Americans the roly poly shape they proudly have. Also schools have been an easy

target for fast food companies to persuade and make children crave for fast food , but

as years have passed schools have encourage children to choose healthy eating habits

by banning all of the fast food companies and foods from the school.

Hey Arnold!

Pinky and the Brain

This list above is just some of the most seen cartoons; each and every one left us

learning. To many people these are just TV shows, to the 90’s kids, this is our

childhood, this remind us of when the problems where smaller, like what candy we

prefer or what TV show we’ll like to watch that day.

Rugrats was about a group of toddlers and their day-to-day lives, it involves their

experiences, the toddlers imagination was always active they were always looking what

to invent or how to have fun, they sometimes get in some trouble but at the end they

resolve their problems. What this cartoon taught me was that when we work as a team

we can accomplish many goals. The main character was Tommy then his friends,

Chuckie, Phil, Lil and Angelica, his cousin.

Dexter’s laboratory was about a very intelligent kid who was always inventing stuff in his

secret laboratory. He was always fighting with his annoying sister Dee Dee, she always

gained access to his laboratory, Dexter was always trying to keep her out. What we

could have learn from this TV show was that no matter what, we have to keep going

and keep trying until we get what we want, like Dexter, he never gave up even though

many of his experiments didn’t work out as he expect them to work.

As you all remember, Arnold was common boy with a common daily life in a big city,

spending his afternoons with his friends dealing with problems he and his friends

encounter, they also deal with urban legends. Arnold lived with his grandparents, there

was a girl who was madly in love with Arnold, her name was Helga, and she was kind of

obsessed with him and collected his used gums. What we could have learned from Hey

Arnold! Was to trust our friends, no matter

what happens they will always be there for

us, it also taught us that we must take life

lightly and have fun in it

Pinky and the Brain was one of the main

cartoons, we all watch Pinky and Brain at

least once in our life. Pinky and Brain were

two genetically enhanced laboratory mice;

they reside in a cage in a laboratory. Pinky

was the one with the good-natured and

The Brain was self-centered and a little

grumpy. Pinky and Brain were always

trying to take over the world; we can all

remember the dialogue between this to

mice. Pinky: “Gee, Brain, what do you

want to do tonight?” Brain: “The same thing we do every night, Pinky, try to take over

the world!”. What this two taught us is that no matter what we can get what we want and

we should never give up on our dreams, we should always dream big.

My actual profession is Hotel Management.

2) What made you choose that career?

It wasn’t my first choice, I started studying Industrial Engineering, but then I

realized that it wasn’t what I was looking for, so I decided to enter Hotel

Management because I love to relate and negotiate with people.

3) Do you think it was a good decision to change of career?

Yes, because if not I wouldn’t be living a happy life at Industrial Engineering.

4) What do you do as a Hotel Management?

I make sure that Food and Beverage work as it is supposed to be working, by

that I mean excellent.

5) Is it what you expected it to be?

Yes, I’m very happy with my professional life.

6) When you were studying, does it ever occurred to you that you would be this

successful?

It had always been my personal goal to be someone important in my career.

7) Do you consider yourself to be living a happy life?

I’m very pleased with my life, I receive love from the people that surround me, I

love my work, I make the best of everything.

8) What do you recommend to all those students who don’t know what to study or

what to do with their lives?

I recommend them to follow their dreams, don’t think of the money a career can

give you, if you are good at something and you enjoy and love doing it you are

going to be very rich; and I’m not only talking money-kind.

9) Was there something or someone standing in your way when you decided to

study this career?

There will always be walls to get to the top but you have to keep going and never

give up.

10) As my last question, ill like to know how does it feels to love what you do for

living?

There isn’t a better feeling that the one you get when you arrive to work and you

realize you have taken good decisions in your life and these good decisions

brings you right where you are standing and you love it.

Bet Like A CHAMP!

Betting is very popular all over the the world and in Mexico. It has become a very usual

activity for people in Mexicali since there´s not many things to do in our city.

People mostly gamble on machines and game tables but I prefer to bet instead of

gamble, which is pretty different.

A really big problem

Obesity occurs when a person’s weight is far above his ideal body weight. It has

become a major problem in many countries, and it is even expected that in the USA,

average expectancy will soon begin to drop sharply for the first time in 200 years

because of an epidemic of obesity. In this essay, I will examine some of the causes and

effects of obesity in the UAE.

Obesity is a complex phenomenon, but the main causes can be grouped into three

headings: poor food choice, lack of exercise, and lack of awareness. Poor food choice

is one of the main causes. People today eat more and more junk food and fast food.

This food is high in fats and cholesterol, and contains too much carbohydrates. The

body is overloaded with fats and sugar, which is converted into body fat. The second

main cause is lack of exercise. Most people in the UAE have changed their lifestyle

completely, from one in which there was more walking, physical and outdoor activity,

into a sedentary lifestyle with little or no exercise. Most expatriates and emirates take

cars to work and do office jobs. Maids and foreign laborers stake care of housework

and manual labor. A third contributing factor is lack of awareness about good eating

habits. Mothers give their children too much choice and too little guidance in what to

eat, advertising confuses many people with claims for particular types of commercial

processed foods, and conflicting information about diets and healthy eating from the

food industry and medical experts leaves many people puzzled.

The effects on individuals and society are huge. First of all, a vicious circle is created in

which children are overfed and grow up to become overeating adults. Another effect is

that people who become overweight find it harder to exercise, which in turn can lead

to increased eating. Many obese people suffer from low self-esteem, especially as

children, which again in turn can result in increased comfort eating. The medical

consequences are huge. Obesity can lead to heart problems, diabetes and other

serious health problems, which can cost millions to treat, and which reduce can

economic productivity and life expectancy for the country and its citizens. It could

even be argues that obesity saps energy from the individual and the country, leading to

laziness in other aspects of life. Although in the past prosperity was associated with

being fat, today people are beginning to realize the cost of such a goal.

In conclusion, it seems that we will have to reassess our entire lifestyle if we are to avoid

the problems associated with obesity. Despite restrictive diets and tempting
