Thyagaraja Aaradhane - The senior musicians,

teachers and senior students of various academies

come together to perform the Thyagaraja

Aradhane.

After the continued success of this event since the last 14 years, we once again

bring to you a celebration in commemoration of the Great Saints and Vagekaras,

Saint Purandaradasa, Saint Muthuswami Dikshidhar, Saint Shyama Shastri and

Saint Thyagaraja.

Program Highlights

A. Singing of the Pancharathna Krithis

All the below listed competitions are to be held on ( 29th January 2017)

For Category A the picture will be provided at the venue, by us.

The topic for Category B will be informed 1 week prior to the competition.

The topic for Category C will be given on the spot. Participants are requested to

bring their own material.

B. Painting Competitions

Category A*- COLOURING Category B*- DRAWING Category C*- ABSTRACT

Category A - Any Geetham OR Nottu swara OR Devarnama OR

Namavalli (Bhajan).

Category B - Any Adi tala Varnam OR Lakshana Geetham OR

Swarajathi OR Dasa Pada.

Category C - Atta Thala Varnam OR Ragamalika Varnam OR Krithi by

the trinity OR any intricate Dasa Pada.

Category D – A Ragamalika OR Vilambakala krithi by the trinity(with

manodharma).

Criteria remains the same for both - group and solo events.

Shruthi Box is to be brought by the participant.

C. Music Competitions

For dance, C ’s will have to be brought by the participants themselves.

C ’s to be submitted to the reception desk, at least 30mins, before

their scheduled slot.

Bharathanatyam

Category A - Shloka OR any Invocatory Item

Category B - Any Jathiswaram OR Alaripoo (in any of the

Jaathis) OR Koutvam.

Category C - A Devarnama OR Thillana OR Bhajan

Category D - A Padam (Nayaka-Nayaki Bhava) OR Krithi

OR Javalli.

D. Dance Competitions

Kathak

Category A - Any Invocatory Item

Category B - Any Shloka

Category C - Any Nruthhanga OR Nruthya Piece

Category D - Japp Taal OR Taal Recitation

For dance, C ’s will have to be brought by the participants themselves.

C ’s to be submitted to the reception desk, at least 30mins, before their scheduled slot.

D. Dance Competitions (Continued)

Category A - 8 lines of any Shloka

Category B - Any Ashtakam OR Hanuman Chalisa

OR Bhaja Govindam (4 verses / 16 lines).

Category C - 10 stanzas from any chapter of the

Bhagavad Gita OR 10 stanzas of Vishnu

Sahasranamam OR Lalitha Sahasranamam

E. Shloka Chanting Competitions

Category D - 20 Shlokas from any Sahasranamam

OR any chapter of the Bhagavad Gita (Fully).

The Passage / Article for them to rewrite will be given at the venue.

G. Debate Competitions

Category A & B – Simple topics will be given

on the spot. The candidate has to pick and

speak.

Category C – Topic will be given one week

prior to the competitions.

Category D – Topic will be given one week

prior to the competitions and there will be a

rebuttal round.

H. Introducing Spell Bee

Category A – 6 simple words

Category B – 10 words

Category C – 5 words and Find the correct

sentence.

Category D - 10 words and Find the correct

sentence.

The contestant must upon receiving the word:

• Pronounce the word first before spelling it. This is to ensure that the student has

heard the correct word.

• Look at the Pronouncer/Conducting official when spelling the word.

• Spell the word orally. Contestants will not be allowed to write the word before

spelling it.

• Speak clearly and loudly. The i ials’ isi is i al in determining the

correctness of the spelling.

•The participant may ask for any pronunciation, meaning, or sentence to be repeated for

clarification before spelling. If a participant takes undue advantage of this rule, he/she

will be disqualified by the Pronouncer/Conducting official.

• The Judges will have the responsibility for stopping the student if he/she fails to

pronounce the word or if the student pronounces the word incorrectly.

• If the student still begins to spell without pronouncing the word, he/she will be

disqualified from the contest. So please ensure you pronounce the word before spelling

it.

• For the category C&D for finding the correct sentence they will get only 5 minutes in

total to identify all the 10 sets of sentences given to them.

There are four categories of participation

A - Sub Juniors: UKG - III STD (5years – 8 years)

B - Juniors: IV – VIISTD (9years – 11 years)

C – Sub Seniors: VIII – XSTD (12 years to 14 years)

D - Seniors: XI and above (15years – 18 years)

Categories

For music and dance, both solo and group participation is encouraged.

Group event - Minimum 3 members.

No film music allowed.

For Music and Dance competitions, depending on the number of

registrations, there would be an elimination round that MAY be

conducted (on Jan 22, 2017). This will be intimated to you latest by

Jan 15, 2017.

Time allowed for each item (Category A and B) 03+1 minutes.

For Category C – Time limit is 07 minutes.

For Category D – time limit is 10 minutes.

Judges decision will be final. No further discussion will be entertained.

Points to be noted

Entries for participation should reach the undersigned on or

before 10 January 2017.

There will be participation certificates given to all, and prizes for

the winners.

The topic for the Drawing competition will be given 1 weeks prior

to date of the competition.

For Solo Category (Music & Dance) – Rs.300 per head.

For Drawing/Painting/ Debate/ Spell Bee/ Shloka/Handwriting – Rs.200

per head.

For Group ALL category's (Music & Dance) – Rs.100 per head.

For children participating in more than 2 ccompetitions, A special discount of

Rs.50 can be availed.

Payments can be made online (or by any other mode).

*Registered participants will be given priority (over spot registration) based on their

reporting time, for all events. (On 1st come 1st served basis.)
