NEAR-NAKED PETA MODELS IN HOT TUB PROTEST WATER WASTED ON ANIMAL PRODUCT• Where- On Bank St. in Ottawa

• Why- Eating meat is not environmentally friendly. According to PETA brochure, it takes 15,500 litres of water to produce one kilogram of beef, by comparison it takes 1,000 liters of water to produce one kilogram of wheat.

MASKED ANIMAL WELFARE GROUP IN BROMLEY PROTEST AGAINST TREATMENT OF DAIRY COWS

• How- Stood outside with cow mask and answered questions

• What materials used if any- signs, paper cow heads, and cow mask

• Outcome- everyone was quite responsive and a lot of questions were asked

BLOODY PROTESTORS ON PROMENADE

• Who- PETA Protesters

• When- May 19 2012

• Why- raise awareness to people of how it really looks like when people stop to pick up meat

• How- They packaged themselves like the meat at stores, bloody on a Styrofoam plate wrapped up.

• What materials used if any- Styrofoam, plastic, paper

• Outcome- People stopped to pick up brochures and asked questions

ANIMAL RIGHTS PROTEST IN TURKEY

• Who: Animal Activists

• What: Large protest, marching with dogs and cats, signs

• Where: Turkey- Istanbul and other cities

• When: Sept. 30th, 2012

• Why: Protesting the passing of a law that might kill hundreds of thousands of stray cats and dogs. The law would also include collecting animals from the streets, which is an important part of culture to many of the people who live there.

MACY’S PROTEST 2013 SEA WORLD • The SeaWorld float, which depicts rolling waves,

tropical fish, penguins and Shamu, comes months after the release of the documentary "Blackfish," which contends that SeaWorld's poor treatment of its killer whales contributed to the aggression of a whale involved in a trainer's death.

• Activists, including members of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, say they plan to stage a protest somewhere along the route during next week's parade. And the group says it has sent Macy's more than 80,000 emails from animal lovers demanding that the store drop the float. “... actor Alec Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria, who wrote last week that SeaWorld was a "cruel prison for whales" and that the parks "should not be celebrated with a giant Shamu float parading down 34th Street."

DOG MEAT FESTIVAL IN CHINA 2013 PROTESTED

• Animal rights activist Du Yufeng organizing a protest at the 2012 Yulin Dog Meat Festival, according to the description that accompanied the Vimeo video from which this screenshot was taken,

•Activists say about 10,000 dogs -- reportedly often transported and kept in inhumane conditions -- are killed during the festival every year; many are burned, electrocuted and skinned alive, according to reports. This festival DID NOT get cancelled but in 2011, two similar events -- one in South Korea and the other in Zhejiang Province, China-- were canceled in the wake of animal rights protests.

•Du says, however, that the Chinese government, in response to pressure from "online activism," will be in a team to monitor the event this year for animal cruelty. The measure won't be enough, she says, but it's a start.

MOSCOW, RUSSIA DOG PROTEST SOCHI (FEB 2014)

• A Russian animal rights activist was detained in Moscow on Saturday after he and two others protested the country's policy of killing stray dogs in Sochi.

• Three activists unfurled a banner near Red Square that read "Bloody Olympics" and depicted a puppy covered in blood. A policeman approached and pulled the banner out of the activists' hands, and one man was detained while the other two fled.

• A year before the Sochi Olympics, municipal authorities announced a contract to "catch and dispose" of strays — a move that animal rights activists have vehemently protested. While authorities pledged to give up the practice, companies have been hired to continue killing the dogs throughout the games, which started Friday and end Feb. 23.

COLUMBUS WALMART CONFINED PIG PROTEST (FEB 2013)

• Local animal rights activists, along with the national nonprofit Mercy for Animals, held a protest outside Wal-Mart on Airport Thurway in Columbus on Thursday.

• The demonstration featured a giant inflatable pig to call attention to Wal-Mart's pork supplier's alleged practice of confining pregnant pigs to small gestation crates for most of their lives.

• The group says Wal-Mart has refused to follow the lead of retailers like Costco, Kroger, and Safeway, all of whom have agreed that gestation crates are inherently cruel.

• In an email statement, Wal-Mart told News Leader 9 that this is a complicated issue and

• that they do not tolerate animal mistreatment.

LOS ANGELES ANTI-FUR PROTEST (KIM KARDASHIAN FLOUR INCIDENT)

• A woman shouting, “Fur hag!” dumped a bag of flour over the Kardashian’s head and ruined Kim’s outfit in a public event for promotion of her latest fragrance. The “assault” was “an attempt to prompt Kim to consider how animals are anally electrocuted as well as bludgeoned and skinned alive so that she can drape their pelts across her back.”

SKINNED” PETA ACTIVISTS PROTEST OUTSIDE HERMÈS LEATHER EXHIBITION• Skinless protestors  from PETA

created quite a stir at the “Hermès Leather Forever” exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts today. Clad in little more than body paint, three models were decorated to look as if stripped of their skin, showing only the gore of muscle and blood. Along with PETA, the models creatively protested Hermès continuous use and support of the leather and fur industries.

ANIMAL RIGHTS PROTEST IN BARCELONA

• “Animal Equality” is an international non-profit animal rights organization whose purpose is “to achieve equal consideration and respect for animals, and the abolition of animal slavery”. The group is known to organize street demonstration to promote respect for animals.

• Animal rights activists from the group “Animal Equality” staged a demonstration in Barcelona, Spain, in front of the Cathedral of Barcelona, during “Day Without Meat” event on March 20, 2013. Demonstrators simulated raw meat packaging found in supermarkets, by covering human models with fake blood and plastic sheets, in an attempt to raise awareness and move people to stop eating meat.

LONDON ANIMAL RIGHTS GROUP CRUELTY FREE INTERNATIONAL  PROTESTS AGAINST L’OREALS BEAUTY TESTING ON RABBITS• China is the only major market where companies must test

their mascaras and lotions on animals. Rabbits are killed or ingredients dripped into their eyes during tests, London animal rights group Cruelty Free International say

• China's policies create a problem for companies such as L'Oreal and Procter & Gamble that want to sell in the country without alienating consumers in markets that demand humane treatment of animals.

• India banned animal testing for beauty products last month. The EU, which has long barred such trials within its borders, tightened regulations this year to also prohibit products tested on animals elsewhere.

• It would be against European rules to sell any product that has been tested on animals in China, so companies would need to reformulate their wares for the two markets.

• In China, companies are required to submit samples of their products to be used for tests at local laboratories, according to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. PETA estimates at least 72 animals are used for each product.

ANTI-FUR ANIMAL RIGHTS COALITION PROTEST IN LONDON

• Animal rights activists from Fur Trade, Coalition Against Fur-Trade (CAFT) gathered in central London for a day of protests of the on-going issue of fur trade retail products.

• Animal rights activists from Fur Trade, Coalition Against Fur-Trade (CAFT) protested outside Harvey Nichols in Knightsbrige, London. Harvey Nichols recently did a U-turn on their “No Fur” policy by starting to once again sell fur trimmed products.

INTERNATIONAL ANIMAL RIGHTS DAY DEMONSTRATION

• 30 Animal Equality activists protest in Leicester Square, London for International Animal Rights Day.

•They constructed crime scenes featuring the outlines of animal victims including chicks, pigs, lambs, foxes, badgers, and fishes to show that each death is a crime, and distributed 2,000 leaflets calling on passers-by to adopt a vegan lifestyle.

•Around 900 million non-human animals – other sentient beings like us – are exploited and slaughtered each year in the UK for consumption alone, not including millions of fishes and sea creatures, and all the millions of other animals who die in the fashion industry, in circuses, zoos, aquariums, the racing industry, the “pet” industry, laboratories, on hunts and in mass killings
