Protect your passwords with Password Manager

What is it?

Password Manager is an online service that enables you to quickly and easily change your Windows or SAP passwords.

Why do I need it?

It’s part of your responsibility to change your password every 90 days, or if you think your password has been compromised. For example, if you accidently click on a phishing website link. However, Password Manager is also a handy tool if you ever forget your password.

1. Visit the IT Self-Help Service Centre on the Royal Mail Group intranet.

2. Click on the passwords icon on the right side of the page. (see fig. a)

3. Enter your Windows user ID. (see fig. b)

4. Select the ‘Use a password’ option to sign in for the first time. (see fig. c)

5. Your first task is to set up some authentication questions that enable you to log in to Password Manager if you forget your Windows password. The first time you use Password Manager you will be taken straight to the ‘Manage Questions and Answers’ screen.

•Using the drop-down menus, select questions that you will easily remember the answers to. Write each answer in the field next to the question.

Need help?

If you’re having difficulty with any of these steps, please contact the IT Helpdesk. For further information on how to protect information, visit www.myroyalmail.com/ThinkSecure

•Note that some of the questions require the answer to be in a specific format. For example, “what is your shoe size?” requires the answer to be written as numbers.

•Once you have chosen and answered all eight questions, click on the “Submit” button. (see fig. d)

6. You can now access the menu options on the left or simply log out of the service.

Using Password Manager functionality:

1. The next time you access Password Manager, you have the option of logging in using your Windows password or by answering the authentication questions. If logging in with your authentication questions, the answers aren’t case sensitive so it doesn’t matter if you use upper case or lower case letters. (see fig. e)

2. Once you have logged in, you have the choice of changing your password, adding a second Windows or SAP account, or changing your authentication questions. (see fig. f)

3. Follow the on-screen instructions for each of these options.
