ARTISTS (CATEGORY – I)

Painting is a hobby to most people. It is a hobby and a means of livelihood to

some. Paints and canvases are highly priced, and their paintings should be sold at

reasonable rates, as it is a question of survival.

NON-ARTISTS (CATEGORY – II)

Non-Artists should lend a helping hand and promote to the betterment of the

needy, sick, miserable, and homeless and preserve the nature.

ACTIVITIES DONE

On the 47th year celebrations of Venus Arts Institute, the mother institute of the

club, we conducted a poster exhibition against HIV/AIDS among children and

youngsters. This was conducted the Government Museum Auditorium, Trivandrum,

from the 6th to 11th April 1998. Dr. D. Babu Paul I.A.S.( Additional Chief Secretary to the

Government of Kerala), inaugurated and presided over the function.

We have given free training to handicapped children at the Polio Home,

Trivandrum, Kerala, for one year.

On the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Venus Arts Institute, conducted an

exhibition and a painting competition. The competition was based on the subject

HIV/AIDS, the first of its kind, among children and youngsters. This venture was

conducted on the 10th, 11th, 12th October 2001 at the Government Museum Auditorium,

Trivandrum. This function was inaugurated by Mr. V.R. Rajiven I.P.S., (Inspector General

of Police) South Zone- Kerala, on Oct10,2001. Winners of the competition were awarded

prizes by the Honorable Member of Parliament Mr. V.S. Sivakumar, Trivandrum

constituency on Nov25, 2001.

In this connection, I conducted competition and picture exhibitions at various places.

A poster exhibition and painting competition was conducted on 25th November 2005 at St.

Mary’s Higher Secondary School- Pattom, Trivandrum -on the subject “AIDS & HUMAN

FUTURE IN 21ST CENTURY-” of HIV/AIDS and students of this school who got

conducted a quiz competition among the students on the subject, HIV/AIDS, on 30th

November 2005. It was done in a very scientific manner. In collaboration with various

cultural organizations. I was able to conduct a number of awareness programmes

through quiz/painting competitions.

On March 31, 2007, conducted quiz and painting competition for the students of Church

of South India Poor Home for Girls (Balika Mandiram) at Parassala. Along with this a

separate quiz competition was organized for the parents of children. During this year’s

Onam celebrations we conducted quiz and painting competitions for the children

between the age 5 to 50 on 29th and 30th August 2007 in collaboration with Kerala’s

leading newspaper Malayala Manorama with Balajana Sakhyam at Neyyattinkara on the

subject of HIV/AIDS. The concluding functions of this programme were at the Venus

School of Arts on 2nd October 2007- the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Artist and

Colonel (Rtd. Indian Army) V.P.K.Nair distributed prizes to the winners.

Due to the heavy financial burden, continuation of this project became very difficult. In

this locality Venus-School of Arts, is known as the educational institution which conducts

awareness programmers on the subject about AIDS. Because of this we do not have many

arts students. And this creates grave financial crunch. Since 1997 single handedly this arts

educational institution fought against HIV/AIDS. But so far we did not receive any

assistance either from the government, individuals or organizations for this project.

Global Warming will adversely affect almost every country’s development. This is true

especially with farmers .There for we propose to rise funds to help the farmers of the

world ,which affect by Global Warming-for this ,we propose to give this amount to UN.

Global Warming is due to the activities of humans. So he is duly bound to stop it .For the success

of this awareness programme we wish to conduct quiz & painting contests which will be

commenced with the help of sponsors in India . If we occurred sponsors ,we will carry out

this project in other countries too through website and venue.

The intentions of this Global Warming awareness that countering of environmental pollution

which is created by carbon dioxide and other harmful gases. Plantation of maximum number

of trees in every country in order to increase the ratio of oxygen and reduce the use of

manmade gases such as chloro fluro carbon etc, it is a must to make aware every one …

who lives in this globe.

The depletion of oxygen is the main reason to the increase of carbon dioxide .The Venus Arts

Painting Club insists the students are encouraged to plant maximum number of trees to

counter this danger.

GLOBAL WARMING : OUR NEW EDUCATIONAL AWARNESS PROJECT

OUR PLANET VENUS-launching its new awareness project about GLOBAL WARMING- as the subject

of Painting & Quiz competition. “MAN WILL ANNIHILATE EARTH OR EARTH WILL ANNIHILATE MAN.”

The threat of global warming and climate change is more horrific than the nuclear threat. Awareness against the cause of global warming should start from the children. we decided to conduct painting competitions and quiz items in whole the educational institutions.

One of the main causes of Global Warming is too much emission industrial gases such

as carbon-dioxide, Chlorofluorocarbon etc, which increase the temperature of the atmosphere many fold. There is also the possibility of the melting of ice in Polar Regions and mountains like the Himalayas, causing the rise of sea-level which in turn drowns several cities and vast lands. The consequent change in atmosphere will cause climatic change and lead to loss of crops and result in poverty and mortal diseases.

According to a study by an international panel on Global Warming, the climate change will cause hurricanes and the sea-level will raise more than 6.50mtr.Snow will melt down resulting in the disappearance of mountain ranges except the top ones. More areas will change in to deserts. Coral reefs and living beings in the sea will face destruction.

According to Jonathan Over peck, Director of Earth Science Studies at Arizona University, if heat increases by 3 degree Celsius in the Artic region, the sea-level will increase from 4 to 6 Mtr there is one meter rise, the Maldives near Kerala coast will be immersed in the sea. Bangladesh will cease to be congenial to human habitation. Cities like New Orleans will vanish.

In 2006 America witnessed 27 hurricanes that had caused heavy damage. Hundreds lost their lives in the heat wave in Europe. The city of Mumbai was drowned

in a 24 hour torrential rain. It was for the first time after 1877, NewYork passed on without snowfall. People died of sunstroke at Palakkad in Kerala.

India is one of the 27 nations that have to endure the bitter results of climate change. There has been 21% decrease after 1962 in the area of 466 snow ranges in the Himalayas. The melting of snow will cause floods in most of the large rivers in India, and the stop of melting will result in drought. There is the possibility of the coastal people and those living in Mumbai, Chennai, Calcutta, Cochin, and Kuttanad (Kerala) face fierce floods.

By the time it is 2020, production of carbon-dioxide will increase 67% of that in 1997 to 30,000 lakh tones .And, within the next 50 years, human life will be unbearable due to global warming and the consequent climate change.

Man cannot exist without maintaining ecological equilibrium with nature. Value -based development models have been driven away from the production- consumer axis steeped in greed and profit motive. Unless man changes his lifestyle, by the end of 21st

century , “Man will annihilate the Earth or the Earth will annihilate Man’’.

Venus Arts Painting Club , is on the vanguard of club awareness project intended to rally nature lovers in world nations so as to energies and Endeavour against annihilation of earth, nature and living beings.
