NTRODUCTION

This property consists of 3 staked claims, TB.1142486, TB. 1142487 and TB.

1162190, located in Duckworth Township, southeast of Shebandowan, Ontario.

The property is owned 50/50 by Basil A. Smith and Timothy J. Twomey. To the

south is located the original Gold Creek occurrences, first described in

the late 1800's as the Quartzite mine. In the 1980's ttea sericite schists

were extensively explored ly Jalna Resources, Anaconda Exploration and most

recently by Inco Gold. Inco Gold has also discovered 17 other gold showings

throughout Duckworth and Laurie Townships by prospecting. Drill testing of

these targets has so far been disappointing.

Our property has previously been held by Noranda Exploration. They conducted

ground HLEM and magnetics from flagged lines spaced every 200 m. This work

outlined what they considered to be a massive sulphide lens. Subsequent soil

sampling for gold returned negative results. They did not drill' test the

anomaly.

LOCATION AND ACCESS

The property is located 83 km by road west of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Access is

provided by logging access roads of Canadian Pacific Forest Products approx-

inately 7 km south from Inco's Shebandowan Mine road.

PROSPECTING

There are two main rock types found on the property. The first is "Keewatin"

HgeH intermediate to felsic volcanics. These consist of cream to buff coloured

mf fa and flows and their sheared, sericitic equivalents. These rocks strike

at 065 0 and dip steeply south. Within this package are found sericite schists

with minor . green mica as well as narrows zones of disseminated to stringer

pyrite.

Unconformably overlaying this package of rocks to the north are younger

ftmiskaming" metasediments. These are well bedded siltstones, wackes and

ded magnetite-chert iron formation. These rocks strike east-west and dip

vertically. Within them are found narrow syenite dikes which are red and

fine-grained. Quartz veins are sometimes found on the contacts with the

sediments.

Twenty-one rock samples were taken with dissappointing results in gold and

silver. One area of interest remains, that is, the Horizontal Loop electro

magnetic conductor outlined previously by Noranda. The strongest response

from the conductor is located 120 m south of the No.l post of TB.766744

which is the same location for the No.l post of TB.1142487. 120 m south of

this post is located an east-west topographic depression 15 m wide. To the

north is magnetite iron formation and to the south is sericite schist. Noranda

states that this anomaly "indicates the presence of a 250 meter long conductor

with a width of 10 meters and reasonable bedrock conductivity"... further "the

cause of this conductor is thought to be a sulphide phase of the iron formation".

This conductor does not outcrop and has never been drilled. Therefore, I

recommend that l short diamond drill hole test this conductor.

l . O INTRODUCTION

I During the period October 25, 1983 to May 14, 1984, Noranda

ploration Company, L i mited ea rried out various geological and GEOPHYSICAL surveys at various times over claims located in Duckworth Township. The claims are owned 100% by Noranda.

The purpose of these surveys was to locate the cause of a Questor Input anomaly which was located by a survey flown in 1976, and to investigate the base metal potential of the anomaly.

2.0 LOCATION AND ACCESS

The property is located in Duckworth Township, approximately 65 kilometers due west of the City of Thunder Bay, Ontario. (Figure 1)

Access is by helicopter or All-Terrain Vehicle along a series of bush roads south from Shabaqua Corners.

3.0 CLAIM STATUS

The Duckworth property consists of eight (8) claims, two of which were covered by these surveys.

4.0 TOPOGRAPHY

Vertical relief on the property rarely exceeds 50 feet. Drainage is moderately developed with streams dispersed to form muskeg swamps. The area is characterized by abundant glacial drift which obscures the bedrock in most of the map area. Spruce and moose maples are the dominant tree type.

5.0 GEOPHYSICS

5.l Instrumentation

5.1.1 Horizontal Loop EM System

The HLEM equipment employed on this survey was the MaxMin II unit manufactured by Apex Parametrics of Toronto, Ontario. The survey parameters used were as follows:

5.1.2 Magnetometer

^^ The "Unimag" G. 836 Proton precession magnetometerJ^nufactured by Exploraniurn Geometrics of Ontario was utilized on thisPurvey. The Total Field measurement is read with a resolution of 10nts and all recorded values were corrected for diurnal and day-to-dayvariations. The correction values were determined from repeat stationstaken at a base station. Readings were recorded at 25-meter intervalsand plotted in plan at a datum of 59,000 nts.

5.1.3 Gravity

A Sodin Prospector Gravity meter was used for this survey. This instrument is manufactured by W. Sodin of Toronto, Ontario. The variation in gravity was measured to an accuracy of 0.1 milligal. Elevation differences were measured with a GDD Electronic Level manufactured by Instrumentation GDD in Sainte-Foy, Quebec. The accuracy of the instrument is 3 cm. The gravity data was corrected for drift, free air, and Bouguer effect.

5.2 Discussion of Results

MaxMln II and Magnetometer surveys totalling 1.975 kilometers (64 stations) and 2 kilometers (165 stations), respectively, were carried out on the Duckworth property during December of 1983, The results of these surveys, as shown on Maps l, 2 and 3, ' 6 "*ie presence of a 250 meter long^conductor reasonable bedrock" conductivity. - ---

Magnetics in the area range from -640 to 19,830 nts. The most notable feature of the magnetic survey is the high (approximately 10,000 nts above background) that trends WNW across the property. The unit represents a narrow, shallow iron formation. Of interest with respect to the conductor is the offset local -high which coincides with the EM- response. A minor magnetic feature, (in or the of 100 to 400 nts) is associated with the EM response. It appears that the EM response is associated close to a contact as the background level to the south of the conductor is lower (1000 nts) than the background to the north.

One line of gravity was carried out on the Duckworth property in May of 1984 to see if a gravity response could be located in

association with the li M conductor. A total of 350 meters (16 stations)were read. The results, os shown on Figure 2, indicate an anomalousj^sponse immediately to the north of the EM response which is caused^fc the iron formation as defined by the magnetics. There is noresponse associated directly with the EM conductor.

6.0 GEOLOGY

During geological mapping three major rock units were encountered on the Duckworth property: intermediate tuff, felsic tuff, and iron formation. (Map 4)

Andesitic ash flows and lapilli tuff occur in the southern portion of the claims area and trend east-west with steep dips to the south. To the north of these intermediate volcanics, sheared and crenulated felsic ash flow and crystal tuffs occur. These felsic volcanics have been weakly sericitized and sheared, with shearing trending east-west and dipping vertically to steeply south. Crenulations within these felsic volcanics indicate a second phase of deformation, but the trend of this second foliation was not determined.

Banded cherts and magnetite of the iron formation occur north of the felsic volcanics. The southern portions of the iron formation consist of banded chert and magnetite in a 1:1 ratio. This relationship changes towards the north where the iron formation consists of massive magnetite. Thin horizons of fine-grained clastic sediments occur sporadically within the iron formation, indicating minor periods of terrigenous input.

Intermediate volcanics, consisting of andesitic ash flows, lapilli tuff, and minor amounts of crystal tuff, occur to the north of the iron formation.

The EM conductor, located by ground surveys, corresponds to the contact area between the felsic volcanics and the iron formation, and is thought to be caused by a thin horizon of sulphide facies iron formation.

7.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Geological mapping detected weak sericite alteration within the felsic volcanics, but it is thought that insufficient alteration is present in the area to reflect a major massive sulphide occurrence.
