When you join the club or renew your membership you can collect your receipt and annual membership card at the door at any monthly club night after that year's AGM. By practising such economies we can keep our club subscriptions as low as possible. See you at the next club night! We are seeking people interested in being on committee, wanting to learn new skills like running a festival, putting together a newsletter and other skills connected with committee service and Governance. GARMENTS with HOBART JAZZ CLUB LOGO Some members will have seen other members sporting a polo or rugby shirt embroidered with the Jazz Club logo. Any-one wanting to purchase one (or more) may do so by filling in the order form below. Please use a separate order form for each shirt type. There is also the option to bring in your own garment to have the HJC logo embroidered onto it with the proviso that the garment is either brand new, recently dry cleaned or freshly laundered. LOGO (only) $ 12.00 on own garment If you wish to purchase a shirt or garment from the club, prices range from $18 to $35. The garments come in a wide range of colours and are very good quality and value for money. They come in a wide range of sizes from small to 4XL. The logo is in colour, as on our name tags. The word TASMANIA under the logo is embroidered in gold. Hot August Jazz Logos are also available; these are best on a black garment.

This night is a celebration of the life and music of Clem Meehan, a veteran of the Hobart music scene for almost seventy years.

Last year Clem suddenly passed away, another one of our fine and dedicated musicians gone to that big jazz club in the sky.

Most of you would have known him from his Dixieland Express band.

Clem's daughter Kate Meehan followed in his footsteps albeit on a different path - the blues (which is the other half of jazz as they say). She has won Australian Blues Music awards and was also runner up in the Australian Music Oz awards for her song writing. Achievements she says would never be possible without the childhood singing and music lessons that Clem inflicted upon her.

We hope you will join us on this Jazz Club night for an hour of songs that Kate remembers Clem singing throughout her lifetime.

Well here we are starting off a new year of Jazz Club nights, and starting 2020 we have Viv Curtain and the Jazz Execu-tives. The. Jazz Executives were formed in 2001 and have had various members ac-cording to availability. The band has played at many venues be-tween Hobart and Launceston and Jazz Festivals all over the state. The current members are -: Viv Curtain (Trumpet), Bruce Gourlay (Piano), Derek Grice (Clarinet), Paul Ingle (Guest Trombone from the New Melbourne Jazz Band, Tony Morgan (Bass), Alistair Scott (Banjo), and Ian Stewart (Drums). 2019 award winner Sophie Leslie hails from Burnie. After just 6 years on the Tassie Jazz scene she has impressed and made quite a name for herself. Sophie started performing with Viktor Zappner and has not looked back. She says Viktor is “very supportive and loyal” and the audience is “really fun loving”. We congratulate Sophie and hope to see her here in Hobart soon.
