Project Update #6 April 2018 Construction Update
Construction work for the Mackay Regional Sports Precinct and Ferris Gully CQU trunk drain
continues. Works undertaken during the last month include:
➢ Excavation of all pools
➢ Completion of structural slab base for the learn to swim pool
➢ Formwork and reinforcement fixing to walls of the 25m pool structure
➢ Construction of concrete foundations and binding layers to 50m pool
➢ Lowering of services for CQU Ferris Gully drain
➢ Excavation of the CQU Ferris Gully drain
Wet weather has again hindered progress of some aspects of the work, however completion of the
project is still due in early 2019.

The following construction activities will be occurring in April 2018, wet weather permitting:
➢ Structural base to 50m pool
➢ Formwork to walls of 25m pool
➢ Commence civil foundations to aquatic centre buildings
➢ Installation of pedestrian bridge across eastern side of the CQU drain
➢ Continue excavating CQU Ferris Gully drains
Anticipated Project Timeline
Award design and construction contract Nov 2017
Construction of the Ferris Gully CQU trunk drain Jan 2018 to Jun 2018
Design and construction of Mackay Regional Sports Precinct Late 2017 to Feb 2019
Anticipated opening Early 2019
