San Diego County, CAL FIRE San Diego Unit. Summary: This region has a demonstrated history related to fire activity. The site could be best characterized as WUI expansion into the wildland. Fuel types are characterized as shrubland fuels with intermittent annual grass. The community of Crest would benefit from the project with respect to external wildland fire threats. As a secondary benefit, the potential for an ignition originating along the margin of Crest would have a lower likelihood of extending in to the vegetation and impacting much larger communities to the west.
