LOCATION: Two miles east of El Cajon, CA. San Diego County, CAL FIRE San Diego Unit.

Summary: This region has a demonstrated history related to fire activity. The site could be best characterized as WUI expansion into the wildland. Fuel types are characterized as shrubland fuels with intermittent annual grass. The community of Crest would benefit from the project with respect to external wildland fire threats. As a secondary benefit, the potential for an ignition originating along the margin of Crest would have a lower likelihood of extending in to the vegetation and impacting much larger communities to the west.

What communities or habitats will project protect? The project will protect the community of Crest. Indirectly, Granite Hills and Winter Gardens will benefit from the project by keeping any ignitions occurring in Crest from extending to vegetation and spreading west.
