“ How to manage an individual to accomplish a goal”

Page 2: Project for 225 Managment Class

The Goal for this project is to motivated and encourage my neighbor Mrs. Sue Morris to use the treadmill at our apartment complex for at least ten minutes a day.

Sue lives at the Sky View Ranch Apartments. Her apartment is near the exercise room of the apartment building. Sue can walk

to the exercise room that is only about fifty feet away.

Walking is good for her health and at seventy six years of age is low impact on an elderly body.

Walking on a treadmill helps maintain healthy muscles , ligaments , bones , and joints. It can help prevent age-related bone loss.

Walking help keeps joints flexible and will help sues moderate arthritis.

Using a treadmill also reduces the impact on knees and hip joints because the belt cushions the strides

Sue listened to my idea and after consideration ,trusted and agreed with me that she is willing to walk on the treadmill for at least ten minutes a day to better her health. She feels that it may also help with her blood pressure.

The exercise room is climate controlled so is not affect by outside conditions.

Regular walking helps lower the risk of a heart attack and stroke. The treadmills at our fitness center have a heart rate monitor and will help her monitor her cardiovascular numbers.

I told Sue I would accompany her for the first two weeks.

Walking has been shown to reduce the risk for depression so with Sue living alone it will also help.

The fitness center is open 24 hours a day so that will give Sue and I a flexible schedule to work with.

Mrs. Morris after being informed of all the benefits of treadmill exercise was convinced that it would be to her benefit. She and I both went through the physical and emotional positives of using the treadmill. After two weeks on an exercise program Mrs. Morris says she feels more flexible , has a little more energy and sleeps better. I continued to go with her for encouragement and as a companion. We monitor and logged her heart rate every three minutes and during her exercise. I feel this has been a very successful project.
