OVERVIEWOVERVIEW

THE COOKOUT NIGHT 2

The Burger is back! Boston magazine will be hosting its 4th annual Battle of the Burger, presented by Amstel Light on August 12th. Last August, at the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal in South Boston, 21 restaurants in the region competed for the honor, grilling their best burgers for over 1000 guests. The competitors earned their spots earlier in the summer through an online voting system where the public chose the best burgers from a pool of nearly 60 restaurants.

During the final event, guests were invited to taste unlimited burgers and Amstel Light, while being entertained with live music and well known chefs. There was never a dull moment, as attendees danced and dined the night away. At the end of the night, all 1,300 guests submitted their votes and we crowned the winner of the Battle!

PROGRAM OVERVIEWIn its fourth year, this fully integrated print/digital/event program will invite chefs from around Boston to face off in an epic food fight. Only one winner will triumph as the best burger in Boston as voted by the people!

This five month program provides sponsors extended exposure with a multi-media marketing campaign, wrapping up with on-site promotion through custom integration at the event.

HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?PHASE 1: PRE-PROMOTIONDuring the month of April, Boston magazine runs a restaurant/publicist media blitz, inviting chefs/restaurants to sign up for the program. While doing so, we will start pre-promotion for the program through print, digital and social media efforts.

PHASE 2: VOTING: THE BATTLE BEGINSStarting in May and running through the July 4th weekend, the public will vote for the best burger on bostonmagazine.com. Participants are invited to vote once a day and check the rankings in real time! Plus, home grillers are invited to compete online for a chance to attend the Battle!

PHASE 3: THE EVENT: THINGS HEAT UP!Voting ends in early July and the top 20 vote getters have one month to get battle ready! The Battle takes place at the epic one-night cook off August 12th where 2,000 guests will be able to sample burgers from the competitors and place their one vote for the best burger in Boston. At the end of the night, the winner of the hard-fought battle is awarded the trophy, a profile in Boston magazine, and will be invited to a national burger competition in 2016 hosted in Miami.

OVERVIEWOVERVIEW

TESTIMONIALS MARKET LEADING EVENTS:

“I just wanted to let you know how amazing I thought last night’s Battle of the Burger event went. Having worked large events I know how tough that can be to coordinate and execute, but with all the moving parts it was came across like there wasn’t an issue... A big thank you to Boston magazine’s staff. You should all be proud of the job you did. I was honored to have emceed the big show.”JASON ROSSIRADIO 92.9

EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS:

“I had really high expectations for Battle of the Burger and have been talking it up internally for some time. I have been asked to provide a recap as it will be featured as a National Win of the week here at Heineken USA. The online voting and the actual event itself blew away even my expectations.”ROB HAMILTONHEINEKEN USA

BRAND AWARENESS:

“The primary goal was to lift brand awareness of the bank, whose headquarters are located on Harbor Street in the center of the Seaport “Innovation” district of Boston. Partnering with Boston magazine made sense from a media demographics standpoint, because they could deliver the bank’s message to their core audience of young, tech-savvy, Boston-area professionals, people likely to want to bank with the latest virtual tools. Monthly 4-color print ads, logo presence on the Battle of the Burger microsite, a hefty social media calendar and inclusion in all Burger promotional advertising rounded out the initial media negotiation. But the team didn’t stop there.

Stackpole and Partners president, Pete Stackpole and Director of Engagement Strategy, Anne Richardson were pleased to be among the burger event attendees. “Events are a terrific way to heighten engagement for our clients and Boston Magazine’s Battle of the Burger gave people the opportunity to view First Trade in a completely unique setting, with food and music, alongside known national consumer brands. The many layers of touch points leading up to and beyond the night of the event really added up to a successful investment on behalf of the bank. All sights are set for a repeat performance in 2013.” STACKPOLE AND PARTNERS
