    Welcome messagefrom Presidents

    Dear Friends and Colleagues,

the Italian PRM Society (SIMFER) has been very very proud to be in charge

of the organization of the 17th European Congress of PRM in Venice in 2010.

According to ESPRM standards and aims, the programme covers:

functioning biology (basic sciences) functioning technology (rehabilitation technology) clinical sciences (PRM in special health conditions) human functioning sciences (including epidemiology, social functioning

    and related topics)

    evidence based rehabilitation and management.

The title chosen for the Congress is European Rehabilitation: Quality, Evidence,

Effi cacy And Effectiveness and it well expresses the objectives that the Society

has set during these fi rst years of hard work.

The disabled persons rights are one of the key points and goals of Europes

development: the aim is to grant the best empowerment conditions

to all disabled people, on the basis of ICFs indications and principles.

We can contribute from a scientifi c and professional point of view on both

a national and European level, to this development, and this congress is

a very important step towards this aim.

With regards to this main goal, it has been possible to connect the 38th SIMFER

National Congress to the 17th ESPRM Congress.

Italian physiatrists, as well as those coming from other Countries, participate

with their scientifi c experiences in the ESPRM scientifi c works, but also the

SIMFER Sessions are included in the Congress Programme with the same

    importance of contents and values.

    Welcome in Venice.
