Day Unit Philosophy:

Our aim is to provide a high quality, cost effective and efficient service for all

patients cared for within the division of surgery

We aim to provide a high standard of professional care and technical skill based on

current research findings

We ensure the multidisciplinary team provides care to promote a patient centred

approach

We believe that patients are individuals who have different responses to life events

and therefore have unique needs. All care is therefore assessed and planned

holistically, incorporating physical, psychological, spiritual and cultural needs

We aim to provide and maintain dignity, privacy and comfort to each patient

We aim to promote a pleasant, efficient and safe work environment for all staff,

patients and relatives with professionalism, honesty and confidentiality as an

essential part of the delivery of care

Staff will ensure that the patient, relatives or carers receive the relevant information

and advice in order to cope with the effects of the surgery they have undergone

Our goal is to enable patients to return to an independent life at home as quickly and

safely as possible
