Required actions during each service visit for the Professional

Puncher-A1/B1/C1.

Symptom: Professional Puncher-A1/B1/C1 required preventative maintenance. Details: When jams occur in the Professional Puncher-A1/B1/C1 certain initial actions should be performed in order to eliminate the possible cause of such jams faults. Field Remedy: Refer to technical Publication TP07 206 for all required initial actions

Skew / Shallow Punch Fault for the Professional Puncher A1/B1/C1.

Symptom: During the punch operation, the Idler Roller on the Paper Guide Energy NIP Assembly may not rotate. Cause: The purpose of having the Idler Rollers rotate during a punch operation is to keep the paper straight and deliver the paper to the Back- Gauge Assembly in time to be punched at the correct position. Insufficient pressure of the Idler Rollers can cause Skew/Shallow punches to occur. Field Remedy: Refer to technical Publication TP011 178a.

Professional Puncher – A1/B1/C1 Inline Die Wear Guideline.

Symptom: All punch Dies will wear over time based on number of punch cycles, media punched and maintenance schedule followed. This document should provide some guidance for symptoms of a worn Die that may need to be replaced. Cause: There is no hard and fast rule about when a Die should be replaced, but there are certain guidelines which can be used to help the end user judge when a Die is near the end of its useful life. As a general rule, the interchangeable Dies have a recommended life of about 500,000 punch cycles when properly maintained and when punching mostly 75gsm (20# Bond) stock. If Dies are not consistently lubricated or if heavier stocks are consistently punched, the Die life could be less. Field Remedy: Refer to technical Publication TP012 199.

Professional Puncher – A1/B1/C1 High Durability Die Set.

Detail: Following the release of High Durability Die Set, this technical publication describes the differences in servicing from the existing standard Die Set.

These enhanced High Durability Dies will feature up to an 8x longer life than the current Standard Die Sets (500,000 times). The new Die Sets have a life span of up to 4 million punches based on 20lb. bond paper. Field Remedy: Refer to technical Publication TP010 274.

The Manufacturers’ “Maintenance and Inspection” procedures.

Symptom: In chapter 5 of the service manual for the Professional Puncher –A1 / B1 / C1, the manufacture (GBC) has outlined the periodically replaced parts interval and general service procedures. Field Remedy: Refer to chapter 5 (Maintenance and Inspection) in the Professional Puncher –A1/B1/C1 service manual.
