Educa�on Queensland Interna�onalEduca�on Queensland Interna�onal (‘EQI’) is the interna�onal arm of the Department of Educa�on and Training (DET), Queensland Government. Being part of Queensland Government, EQI’s key objec�ves are to promote Queensland’s educa�on and training interna�onally, to grow and sustain business and increase the level of interna�onal

engagement.

DET employs approximately 66,000 people or nearly one-third of all Queensland public servants, and is the sixth largest human services organisa�on in the southern hemisphere.

The Department manages 1,239 state schools with nearly 500,000 students across seven educa�onal regions within Queensland, delivering services across the primary and secondary schooling sectors. DET also enrols more than 210,000 students each year in its 13 Technical and Further Educa�on (TAFE)

ins�tutes.

Key Strengths

EQI specialises in arranging onshore student programs, study tour and professional visits for overseas students/visitors, both short term and long term. It

has also capacity to deliver offshore interna�onal educa�on programs for foreign schools or governments.

EQI’s Study Tours and Professional Visits Unit has been opera�ng for more than two decades, arranging interna�onal study tour groups from around the world to visit Queensland.

For the past three financial years, EQI has hosted over 1,200 groups to Queensland for over 32,000 interna�onal visitors, both students and professionals.

EQI will invite a senior representa�ve to farewell the visitors on behalf of the department. Invita�on will also be extended to other educators to a�end and network with the visitors.

The Gold Coast is world famous tourist des�na�on and is conveniently located less than one hour drive north to Brisbane and the neighbouring state of New South Wales to the south. The Gold Coast is also a centre for many interna�onal events, including the forthcoming 2018 Commonwealth Games.
