Pressure cookers with model number BPR600XL and batch numbers between 1235 and 1529 are included in the recall. The model number and batch code are located on the bottom of the unit.

The sealing gasket can be incorrectly inserted upside down on the lid which can allow the unexpected release of built-up pressure. This poses a risk of burns to the user or consumers nearby.

INCIDENTS/INJURIES

Breville USA has received five reports of steam or hot contents escaping from the pressure cooker, resulting in five reports of burns, including second degree burns to the hands, arms or stomach.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled pressure cookers and contact Breville for a replacement sealing gasket and updated instructions.

DESCRIPTION

This recall involves Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners (PTAC) and Packaged Terminal Heat Pumps (PTHP) sold under the Bryant, Carrier and Fast brand names. Recalled units include those with original power cords and those that received a supplemental power cord as part of the 2007 recall. The recalled units have capacities of 7,000; 9,000; 12,000 and 15,000 BTUs and plug into 208/230 volt, 20 amp outlets.

HAZARD:

The power cord plug can overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

INCIDENTS/INJURIES

Carrier has received reports of approximately 47 incidents of overheating. Two of the reported incidents involved hotel fires. One of the reported fires involved a consumer suffering burns and smoke inhalation. The other incidents involved scorched or melted cord heads or wall outlets with no injuries reported.

Consumers should stop using and unplug the recalled units, and contact Carrier to receive a free replacement cord.

DESCRIPTION

This recall involves Splash! and PAL Hi/Lo and Spa pool access lifts most commonly found in municipal and community swimming facilities and hotels. Splash! lifts are permanently fixed to the pool deck. PAL models are portable, free-standing pool lifts that can be fixed to the deck. The recall includes all models of Splash! lifts with manufacturing dates between January 2013 and September 2015, PAL Hi/Lo lifts with model numbers 250-0000, 250-0005 and 250-0005K and Spa model 275-0000 with manufacturing dates between December 2014 and September 2015. The model number and date of manufacture can be found on the label at the base of the mast. “Splash!” or “PAL” is printed on the base of the lifts.

Welds securing the lift base plate and/or mast can break, posing a fall hazard.

INCIDENTS/INJURIES

The firm received reports of two incidents in which the lift fell over due to inadequate welds in the base plate or mast. One incident occurred when a person was seated in the lift chair. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled pool lifts and contact S.R. Smith for a free replacement base and/or mast assembly.

DESCRIPTION

This recall involves 43 models of Casablanca ceiling fans manufactured in 2013 and 2014. Casablanca fan styles including: Alessandria, Aris, Bel Air, Bullet, Caneel Bay, Heritage, Isotope, Riello, Stealth, Tercera, Trident, Whitman and Zudio. Affected models have a gold label on top of the motor housing that includes “Casablanca” and a model number. Some Casablanca models also have the Casablanca logo on the switch housing or on the end of the pull chain. The production date code is a four digit code on top of the motor housing near the center down rod. Fans with a Cat. No. “A01”, the last two digits of the four digit date code ending in “13” or “14” and no green dot on top of the motor housing are included in the recall.

HAZARD:

The fan motor and attached blades can separate from the adapter when operating in reverse updraft mode, causing the fan motor and blades to fall, posing an injury hazard.

INCIDENTS/INJURIES

Casablanca has received eight reports of the fan motor and blades falling, including one report of minor injury and one report of minor property damage.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ceiling fans and contact Casablanca for a free in-home inspection and repair.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Ace Bayou Corp., of New Orleans, La., are reannouncing the voluntary recall of about 2.2 million bean bag chairs sold from 1995 to 2013. Only 790 consumers, who purchased the bean bag chairs, have responded to the recall. CPSC and Ace Bayou are urging consumers to install the free repair kit to permanently disable the bean bag chairs’ zippers so that they cannot be opened.

CPSC is extremely concerned that these recalled bean bag chairs are continuing to be used by children. The foam beads inside the chairs are serious suffocation and choking hazards for children. Two children died after suffocating on the chair’s foam beads. An additional incident has been reported to CPSC involving a 6 year old boy who opened bean bag and reportedly swallowed some foam beads and had others in his nose and mouth.

The recalled bean bag chairs have two zippers, including an outer zipper that does not have a pull tab and another zipper directly underneath that zipper. Although the outer zipper on the bean bag chair does not have a pull tab, children can open it. Once they have opened the outer zipper, they can open the inner zipper which contains the foam beads and crawl inside. Children can suffocate or choke on these foam beads. The voluntary standard requires non-refillable bean bag chairs to have closed and permanently disabled zippers. Ace met the voluntary standard’s requirement for a warning label.

The two deaths involved a 13-year old boy from McKinney, Texas died and a 3-year-old girl from Lexington, Ky. who suffocated from lack of air and inhaling the chair’s foam beads. Both children were found inside the chairs.

The recalled chairs with zippers that can be opened were sold in a variety of sizes, shapes, colors and fabrics. They include round or L-shaped, vinyl or fabric, and are filled with polystyrene foam beads. They were sold in a variety of colors, including purple, violet, blue, red, pink, yellow, Kelly green, black, port, navy, lime, royal blue, turquoise, tangerine and multi-color. The round bean bag chairs were sold in three sizes, 30, 32 and 40 inches in diameter. The L-shaped bean bag chair measures 18 inches wide by 30 inches deep by 30 inches high. “ACE BAYOU CORP” is printed on a tag sewn into the bean bag chair’s cover seam. They were made in China.

HAZARD:

The zippers on the bean bag chairs can be opened by children who can then crawl inside, get trapped and suffocate or choke on the bean bag chair’s foam beads.
