being the set of the practices, of the methods and techniques that have for goal to supply by an artifice material, the orthopedic equipment regroups two types of devices: the orthoses and the prostheses.
The orthosis is fixed directly to the segment of body to treat, which is opposite of a prosthesis, whose function is to replace an anatomical segment.
The orthosis is the most often prescribed for muscular case or joint disease, or for skeleton deformity (scoliosis, flat feet, knee valgum or knee varum…).
To show the efficiency of the incorporation of the foot in the orthosis with an ankle joint.
To make know the technique experimented at the P&O school of Lomé (ENAM).
A questionnaire of 20 questions
Selection of the subjects according to the age that varied from 3 years to 6 years as well as the degree of deformity.
10 subjects were fitted with an orthosis
two techniques have been compared: a technique takes in account the foot through the ankle joint and the other excluded the foot and end above the ankle joints

The reduction of the angular deformation was checked by an x-ray (pangonogramme)
After twenty (20) weeks of use of the orthoses by the subjects, we had 86% of reduction for the articulated orthosis and 53% of reduction of the deformity for the non articulate orthosis.
After 28 weeks of use of the orthoses, we had 97% and 76% of reduction on the angular deformity respectively for the articulate and non articulate orthoses. In front of these results we could say that there was an acceleration on the reduction of the deformity with the articulated orthosis.
After 28 weeks where one got 97% of reduction for the articulate orthoses we are having 76% of reduction for the orthoses excluding the foot. It implies that a control of the foot in the management of knee valgus is determinant in the reduction of the deformity.
The knee valgus deformity can find a better management by simple orthosis articulated at the ankle joint.
The orthosis for the correction of the knee valgus can be efficient if and only if the deformity is flexible and reducible.
The fixe or irreducible deformity will find their reduction by surgery
