Dear WES Families,

We will be supporting the March of Dimes in the following ways:

*MOD Tags – These will be sold for $1 and displayed with your child’s name in the hallway

near the cafeteria. The class that has the most tags sold by April 30th

will have a Pizza

Party! The 2nd

place winner will have a class Sunset Slush party.

*We will have t-shirts that were designed by our very own March of Dimes committee.

Please use the order form at the bottom if you are interested in purchasing a t-shirt. Com-

plete and return to your child’s teacher and please make checks payable to WES. These

shirts will be great to wear on Spirit Day!

*The March of Dimes walk will be held at East Bay Park on April 30th

. They will have the

butterfly garden on display at the walk. Please see the attached form and return to your

child’s teacher if you are interested in honoring a baby with a butterfly. Please feel free to

honor your own child too-after all, they are still your babies.

Nearly half a million babies are born too soon in our country each year. Some are so small

they struggle to survive. We need your help to give all babies a fighting chance. Please help

us meet our $2,000 goal.

**Monday, April 11, 2016—LAST Day To Order T-Shirts**

with the March of Dimes & WES logo. They say “saving babies TOGETHER one step at a time.” See

WES website for graphics.

We have kicked off our annual Jump Rope for Heart fundraising drive to benefit the American Heart Association. Each student will be bringing home a letter detailing what Jump Rope for Heart is, and the ways they can register to raise funds to help the American Heart Association. For those students able to assist in raising funds, they will either need to turn them in to Mrs. Martenies at school, or you can register and donate online at www.heart.org/jump, and then join our team in the Search for Your School area. The last day to regis-ter and donate funds is Friday, April 29, 2016, and then we will be having our celebration event for all those who raised funds at our school gymnasium the morning of Friday May 6, 2016. Students who earn additional thank you gifts will receive them at the celebration event also. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at [email protected], or at 843-237-4233 ext. 2407. Thanks so much for your support.

Hippos can open their mouths as much as four feet

wide! They mainly just use massive maw to graze

on grass, and although they spend most of the day

in the water, they are asleep much of that time and

prefer to eat plants they find on dry land.

*Wonders of the World*

The Great Wall of China stretched for more than 13,000 miles, including all of its branches and fortifi-

cations. As many as 25,000 watchtowers studded the wall, which was primarily designed to keep out

Mongol raiders and other nomads from the north. The wall was begun as early as 2600 years ago and

was regularly extended, destroyed, rebuilt, and restored over the next 25-plus centuries. Most of

what still exists today is about 400 to 600 years old, dating from the Ming Dynasty.

Family Justice Center’s Used Shoe Drive

What: The Family Justice Center is conducting a shoe collection drive in 2016.

Our goal is to collect 100 bags of shoes (25 pairs per bag) to raise funds to con-

tinue providing free and confidential services for victims of domestic violence

and their children.

The shoes collected will not only provide funding for FJC services but will also

benefit impoverished people in developing nations. Through the collections

these people are able to start, maintain and grow their microenterprise to feed,

clothe and house their families. Shoes are creating sustainable economies in

countries where little hope of economic stability exists.

Bring shoes of any size, style or condition!
