One of the things that has provided me with huge amusement over the past few decades working with teenagers is the often extreme nature of rumours and gossip. I think that it is a habit of the developing teenage brain to believe the fanciful over the actual and the extreme over the mundane. I had to take sudden and unexpected sick leave last week as I required emergency surgery for a detached retina. The speculation of some of the boys about my absence during this time has provided me with many laughs. Thanks to the parents who have contacted me or the school to enquire after my health. If your son has arrived home with one of the wonderfully outlandish stories doing the rounds, the reality is far less exciting. Just to clear the record, I have not died, am not currently dead and have no intention of being so for a long time. I have not contracted the ebola virus. Admittedly, I haven’t been tested for ebola but I haven’t been in an infected area and haven’t been eating any bats. Kebab yes, kebat no. I also have not left for a “better” school as such a thing does not exist. I still don’t know about the rumour that Ms Henry and Ms Byrne have had me bound and locked up after some type of palace coup. I’ll let you know about that when I return to work, hopefully with vision intact.

The new playing venue has brought nothing new! The unpredictable sky over the Olympic Park outdoor Futsal venue has been recently replaced by safe, all weather protective ceilings at Auburn’s PCYC. The venue change had no influence on our junior Futsal teams’ performances. We played 4 games recording 4 wins. Last week for the first time this season we played against North Sydney. As per usual, the first on the court was the U15s A team. The captain David had a challenging task to lead a group of players with no substitution players available. Once again, he passed the challenge by leading his players right from the front. He insisted on pressing the opponents on their half by not giving them enough time to execute the two most basic skills in Futsal, that is, receiving and passing the ball. The standout performer was Sam who scored 4 goals. Ashfield 5 -North Sydney 3. Then, the U15s B team produced our best scoring game of the season. We managed to score a goal every 1.6 minutes tallying 15 goals. The best of the best was Tanakorn who scored 6 goals. Our team is entering the second part of the season on the wings of 6 consecutive wins.

PAYMENT OFFICE HOURS-STUDENTS Before School Recess Lunch 2.00pm is the cut-off time for both students and parents, to enable end of day processing.
Our preferred method of payment is online via School Bytes or the school website. We ask that you consider online payment before you send cash, cheques or credit card payments to the school office. Online payment provides you with an immediate receipt for payment.
Students are to carry their ID cards with them at all times when dealing with the Administration Office (Rolls Desk) and the Library. We will soon be implementing a new photocopying system. Students will not be able to photocopy at school without a card. Details to follow. Lost cards incur a replacement fee of $10.
