Sport News Last week we had three teams representing Greythorn in a variety of sports. Our Hooptime All Stars team competed in the finals at the State Basketball Centre, the Boys softball team competed in the Eastern Region Finals at Jells Park and the Girls and Boys cricket teams competed in the District finals at Hislop Reserve. The Hooptime and Softball teams were competitive at their respective events and despite some excellent results, did not progress to the next level of competition. Both the Girls and Boys cricket teams won their respective events and now progress to the Regional finals. Congratulations to the basketball and softball teams for not only reaching the level that they did, but for their commitment to ongoing training to prepare themselves to compete at this high level. Congratulations to both cricket teams for their outstanding results and best wishes for the upcoming Regional finals. Thank you to Miss Knell for her ongoing work to train and prepare each team so thoroughly for their respective events. Claire also spends many, many hours on administrative tasks for these events including organising timetables, transport and permissions forms. Thank you also to Miss Stewart -North and Mr Pertz who assisted with the cricket teams at their gala day. Regional Debating Day As mentioned last week, our debating team competed last Friday at the Brunswick East Regional Debating Day. It was a wonderful opportunity for all of the team members to put their skills to the test in a competitive environment. They had a fantastic day and all returned to school very excited to share their experiences from the competition. Congratulations to the team for the manner in which they represented Greythorn with pride and distinction and the results that they achieved on the day. Several of the students were voted Best Speaker during a number of the debates, including Tammy W (5SP) and Lauren D (6MN). Thank you to Miss Stewart -North for her ongoing coaching and training of the students and for organising the team to attend the competition. Thank you also to Kristy Gibbin, Jessica Zhang and Mandy Douglas for assisting with transport and offering support and encouragement throughout the day.

Student Management A few reminders about protocols for student attendance and the management of illness. Your assistance with these issues will be greatly appreciated.

If you child arrives at school after 9am, please sign them in at the office, collect a Late Pass and escort them to their classroom. This also applies to students leaving early. Sign them out at the office, collect an Early Leavers pass and present this at the classroom to collect your child.

Please ensure that if your child is ill that they are kept at home until fully recovered. This is not only for the benefit of your child, but will mitigate the chances of cross- contamination with other staff and students.

The office take many phone calls in regard to drop-off and pick-up arrangements. Please ensure that your child/children are fully aware of arrangements for before and after school. We understand that on occasions an unforeseen situation may arise and the school must be notified, but it is difficult to interrupt classes during the day just to relay messages that could have been organised prior to the day starting.
